Good day for Max, replaced driver CV axle and passenger side hub/spindle in 2.5 hours
6 to 8 months deployment is just around the corner so my Maxi got some well deserved TLC today, I've replaced driver side cv axle ( had torn boots, big no no for safety inspection) and replaced passenger side hub/spindle with used one but with new OEM wheel bearings.
few tips:
For driver side cv axle, disconnect the tie rod and strut to knuckle bolts along with sway bar end link, than use a chisel and give it a good whack with a hammer and old cv axle will slide right out.
For tightening up ball joint nut that spins freely, slide the hub onto ball joint and give it a good whack in order to get it seated on the ball joint and than tighten up the ball joint nut.
Car feel great with new cv axle and new wheel bearing, steering is rock solid and the nervous feeling is gone. Plus the steering wheel is dead center on and car drives and tracks in straight line. I will get an alignment anyway, but this is the first time ever i've managed to get the steering wheel to be dead center on after disconnecting strut to knuckle bolts and tie rods
And the best this is, it only costs $9 for 2.5 hours on the lift at the local auto skills center !!!!
Good day again !!!
