wtf is wrong with the clutch
wtf is wrong with the clutch
on Fri. me and my friend were trying to flush the fluid in the lines(it was black omg), we got the fluid out managed to get some new fluid flowing through the lines but we could not build any pressure in the pedal no matter what we did.
On sat had the car towed to the shop, the guys took a look at it and said "We cant get it to come up but Ur Slave and Ur Master Cylinder are leaking so it might be the problem." Had to wait for the parts to come in
Today went to the shop thinking my car was done @ around 5(they open at 7 iimagine), i walk in the guy tells me "We dont know what it is, the whole day today we have been bleeding the lines, we pressure bleed it, gravity bleed it and nothing we cant get the pedal back up i got a tech still working on it he is going to try and bleed it one more time." it didnt work
wtf is going on here, we only flushed the fluid now the clutch is dead? i started a thread about 4 months ago about my clutch going soft and the friction point moving almost on the floor after idling for about 30mins, i stopped letting the car idle for long periods of time(i.e oil changes, seafoam, and some other odd jobs) and the problem went away, here is the strange part about it, the hood doesnt allow very good ventilation obviously and really not that much from underneath but when the car is in motion i could drive for however long i wanted, I took the car on a 6 hour long drive to the Dragon and back no problems once from the clutch.
It starts to warm up outside(it was 75 in central NC pretty much the whole of last week) and i cant get out of my driveway without my clutch going soft, i start the car it is fine get to the end of my driveway its soo soft the pedal pretty much falls to the floor and about a 1/2inch from the floor is where the friction point is. Hence i thought the clutch fluid was gone and it pretty much was but it took the clutch with it?
also i had the clutch looked at when it happened those 4 months ago and the people said it was fine needed to be changed soon, and just a couple of weeks ago i noticed slight slippage, we were planning on getting the clutch changed this summer, we just need to gather all the parts and plan the best time when the car isnt need(DD)
Help?

should have gotten another Auto.
anyway, I was the friend who was helping him. we tried everything to get fluid back into the lines, and nothing worked. we used a syringe to suck the air out of the lines and we were getting small amounts of fluid each time, but still, a lot of air. we weren't able to get it, so we had it taken to the shop.
could anything we did have damaged something?

you didn't damage anything....these 4th gen clutches are just a ***** to bleed. My dad's a nissan mechanic and has stories similar to yours. We got lucky on mine and it only took like 2 hours.
wish I had some actual tips...just keep tryin.
edit: I had an idea. when I did mine...it took forever to get ANY pedal back. Finally we made a little progress and I had enough pedal to slightly disengage the clutch. My dad told me to go drive it around. He said sometimes that has good results for them, other times it doesn't do ****. Well I tried it. I felt bad for my car! It was pretty ugly having to yank it in and out of gears while the clutch was still partially engaged. After driving, I had gained a very small amount of pedal feel, and we also had better luck bleeding afterwards.
Good luck!

When bleeding the clutch you will also want to adjust the rod so that you can bleed all the air out of the master cylinder. This sounds like your problem.

i had a similar problem with my peddal. except i blew the lower slave cylinder line. since i noticed i have 2 bleeder valves i searched for the bleeding procedure..
i had an extra pair of hands when i bled mine but it went like.. 'open valve, push pedal down (and hold), close valve, pull pedal back slowly' the whole time i was bleeding i made sure to keep the resivour full to the tip-top. after repeating that for a while i started to build pressure back. when i felt like the line was full i drove it in traffic to let the clutch adjust. and its fine to this day..
or mayb try opening the bottom valve, fill the resivour to the verry top, and let gravity do some work(?)...
hope that helps, and good luck.

It'll probably set you back about $30, but I would try this before banging your head against the wall.
I've bled my clutch manually before. I had the same result as a lot of these posts describe. The best result was to have someone push the pedal while I simultaneously turned the bleeder screw open for a split second and then closed. After I had closed the valve, my associate would then pull the pedal back. Took a pint or so to finally get it. Not to mention, it was painfully slow going.
If I had to do it again, I would use the aforementioned hand pump. This will take out the chance of air leaking back into the system. Unless, of course, you have a leak still. Which this pump can also determine for you. Win win

^^^ that thing doesnt do s hit... besides u can rent one at autozone or advance..
just buy a new master cylinder and a ss brake line.. ihad the same problem bleeding the clutch.. i put in a ss line and bleed the clutch in 2 minutes.....

the shop called me and told me they had installed a defective master cylinder, which makes me raise an eyebrow, they said the will get another one and try installing that and see if the can get the clutch back, if not we are just going to have to replace the whole system along with the clutch itself and get it over with lol if that doesnt work bye bye I30

called today and there is still no clutch even with the new master cylinder, the shop closes at 7 so if they are not done today tomorrow im going to have it towed to a shop that specializes in transmissions and have them change the whole system

Relax guy, there is no need for a hostile tone. I guess the question I had was to ask what you meant by "doesn't do @&*$". Now that you have explained what you meant with "it doesn't work", I now know. I would like to contradict your statement, though. I have used a vacuum pump for bleeding several times with great results. As I wrote earlier, it helps to not allow air back into the system. Perhaps, you have had other results?
That is all.
That is all.
