few questions regarding rear brake/rotor/hub maintenance.

so this last weekend i started to replace my rear brake pads cause they had nothing left. Well first off...trying to take a wheel off, one of the lug studs splines stripped so i had to drill that out. Then when i got to my caliper I realized i had no brakes left cause the piston was seized (rubber boot around the piston ripped and it all rusted). Also I waited too long to check into this so the one rotor has grooves in it too.

anyways, my question is, is the hub suppose to have splines for the new lug studs? The holes in the hubs look smooth but the studs have splines. The splines are larger diameter than the hub holes tho. So are the splines suppose to 'cut' into the hub or is the hub stripped?

Also, will duralast rotors from autozone be fine? I cant spend too much money now so i need something cheap. They are only 12.99 a piece and that comes with a 2 year warranty.

Also those shields behind my rotors are all rusted to crap and flaking apart. Can i just take those off? What exactly are they for...i assume to just stop brake dust from getting on stuff. I have them off in the front due to the BBK so im assuming its fine to take them off in the back too.

thanks everyone
-Brent

1) The splines will cut into the hub and hold the studs in place.
2) Rotors for 12.99 each WITH a 2 year warranty? - HOME RUN!
3) Splash shields help keep water and debri off. If you have no issues with them being off in the front, then by all means remove the rears as well.
