I'll be sticking with the 4th gen IACV as I'm converting a 70mm DBW TB to cable right now...
Ok I think I may play around with it tonight. If I decide to block it off I need to run the coolant hoses together correct?

i have problems with my idle period it starts up just fine iam using a Full DEK 5th gen everything. when it starts up it idles perfect at 700-800rpms its good while driving but when coming to a stop or slowing down the idle just drops and the car dies with my swap i put the 5th gen iacv and i plug it the plug right side up meaning the same way i would plug it in my 4th iacv. i was told to plug it in upside down but when i do the idle goes up and down non-stop between 1500-2000rpms?????

correct. I currently have the 5th gen TB with the IACV blocked off. I ran the coolant hoses together.

I swapped over to the 5th gen thottle body last night and got everything working on the first try. The car is alot louder and I think my throttle plate is open a little bit because the car takes off when I let go of the brake. Also this morning my mom called me and said when she was slowing down at a couple of lights the car just shut off on her. I'm going to look at how my hoses are running again to make sure I dont have any leaks.

On a side note when I took my TB off I had oil in my intake maifold! WTF is that???

IMO, that's probably from the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) system. Get an oil catch tank and you won't have that problem. There are some on ebay, but people say that the "home depot" kind are more effective. Search a bit and you'll find more info.

haha, it never ends, does it? Did you search about the home depot one or are you just gonna get an ebay one? I didn't think the home depot one was too expensive though...

Anyway, how's the car idle right now? Better or worse than with 4th gen IACV? Have you driven it yourself?

I'm still searching for the specifics of the home depot one. I did see the ones on ebay though. Home depot is around the corner from me so I may just go there.

When I drove it was idling up around 1200 and dropped down around 700 when in gear. But I think that because my throttle plate is open though. The idle wasnt perfect but it could be worse. Also when I turn the car on it jumps up to about 2000 and falls down slowly.

We fixed the idle problem and the car feels completely normal now. If anybody needs 4th gen tb and iacv adapter plates and a 5th gen thottle body let me know.

Well we took the 3/8 hose that was conected to the rear of the manifold and stuck it inside of the hose on my stock midpipe but we didnt have a clamp at the time to secure it so it was idleing crazy. We bought the clamp yesterday and put it on and the problem was solved.

Probably sometime tomorrow I'm going to block off the nipple on the rear of the manifold and put a breather on my stock midpipe.

Yes thats the way I drive around. Also I thought the FPR was directly under the VAIS? Most people replace the one you are talking about.

They're both FPRs....and I don't think they can do their job without vacuum. You might want to get some vacuum to that thing...

Really??? I've been driving around like this since I did my swap. I'll hook it up to one of my blocked up hoses I have laying around.

so I found out about the FPRs. they are meant to bump fuel pressure 5psi under WOT (no vacuum). So driving around with no vacuum on the FPR is essentially just driving around with an extra 5psi of fuel pressure. may make you run a little rich, or the ecu might compensate for it. idk.

also, I've found the perfect IACV setup.
-starts PERFECTLY, EVERY TIME. NEVER have to hold foot on gas.
-cold starts are like stock. idles high until engine reaches operating temp.
-idle never surges or fluctuates.
-engine idles up to compensate for power steering or a/c load; like stock.

before changing what I did, I always had pesky problems. since then, I haven't had a single one. it's finally just as reliable as a stock 4th gen!

check it out:
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...I/IMG_0199.jpg

basically, I got the IACV as close to the UIM as possible and used a MUCH BIGGER hose and fittings. The hose I was using was like 3/8 I think...and the new hose is around 3/4ish. I don't remember the exact sizes, the important thing is that it's a LOT BIGGER and can actually flow enough air. IMO that's the number one problem with people's 00VI idle issues....and for those of you who say "I'm using the 5th gen IACV, so this can't be my problem," you're right, it's can't be your problem. Your problem is that you're using the 5th gen IACV in the first place.

4th gen IACV with HUGE hose (and close to UIM) = WIN. end of story.

(I'll try to find fitting sizes, drill bit and tap info too. Can't remember off the top of my head.)

I've ran full 5th gen setups twice without driveability or cold start issues. The key is to ensure you have no vacuum leaks AT ALL, and it is essential to reset your base idle and make sure the TPS/ thottle close switch (grey plug) is adjusted properly (as per the Nissan bulletin).

FYI guys, I am running a 4th gen IACV with the blockoff plate, everything else is 5th gen. I have a cold start every time the car has been sitting for more than 12 hrs, but all I do is tap the gas on startup and it is fine.

Make sure you do not have any vacuum leaks and you should be set, as I think that is the problem that most people have when doing 00VI swaps.

I have the same setup as well but don't have the cold start problem. What size hose are you using to connect it back to the UIM? I think I'm using a 3/8" hose and barb. mowgli29 recommended using a 3/4" hose and barb [link].

I'm running 9/16" hose with a retapped/drilled 1/2" fitting.
