shifter broke at base!!!
shifter broke at base!!!
so as i was going home my shifter snapped when i shifted in to second??!?! i must be too strong or it could be the cheap metal ebay uses but it snapped and now its stuck in neutral. is there anyway i can throw it in gear so i can drive it less then 100 yards to the closest mechanic. and pushing is not an option becuase i have to go all up hill. can i go under the car and shift it in gear or something. any gear will do..
Ugh
Get under the car
Unscrew the cat
Remove the cat heat shield
Have a buddy depress the clutch (optional)
Grab the bottom of the shift lever (attached to the shift linkage), push it towards the driver's side of the car and pull it towards the back of the car
Some cheapo ebay shifters have had this problem before, the shifter snaps because it's cheaply made.
Edit: Guess you could do it at the tranny too

how long have you had your sifter ???? are you hard on it, does it take effort to get your car into gear?????? I'm sortta curious (other than it being chep ebay junk) why it broke, I have a cheapy STS and it seams fine. well ... so far. lol

Sawzall and aftermarket **** with allen screws lol
Cut it down all those shift ***** come with the plastic inserts w/ diff sizes and they just clamp on w/ the allen screws. Free and still shortening the throw thats the point right?? Why do you need to shift that rough anyway??
I can hit 2nd and 3rd quick enough to chirp the tires with stock shifter and no crunching or snapping shifters lol.
