Maxima Problem

I have a rattling sound when I accelerate. I did a search and I found many threads. Its seems this is a very common problem. The most common answer was a loos timing chain...which is a pain in the a** to fix and expensive. This seems like a problem that Nissan "should" take care of (but won't), since it is defective and should last longer than 5 years, 50000 miles.

Who has the same problem?

What is the easiest way and cheapest to alleviate the rattling noise?

Thanx.

Re: Maxima Problem

sounds like your cat bracket is loose.. so that means that everytime you get on the gas.. the engine flexes.. and the y pipe moves.. sounds like its coming from the dash? if so it could be your cat bracket..

I agree with Sprint...if it's coming from the dash it's the bracket. Same problem here.

doubt it

It is coming from the engine. Investigating right now. Gonna have a mechanic look at it. All characteristics of a loose timing chain.
