abs sensor trickery??
abs sensor trickery??
Hey guys,
Recently had abs codes pulled from my car and it was the front right wheel abs sensor circuit was both open and shorted.
I began to remove the sensor, and not really to my surprise you must destroy it to remove it. So i have half of the sensor in the hub and half out.
My question is, instead of spending 100 bucks on a new one...are there any electronic buffs that can tell me how to trick it into thinking it's working?
If the system thinks it's working then maybe the rest of the system will come back on.
(Not sounding stupid or anything but I don't care about the safety aspect, just wondering if I can trick it.)
Thanks,
Bobby

Given that it sends varying signals depending on speed, not really.
Just leave it as it is if you don't care about the ABS system working, or just buy a new hub from a junkyard with the ABS sensor still in it. Just try to grab the same hub as your model year bracket (looks like 97-99, for you).

Keep digging at it. I did mine last summer, it was a big time PITA. I basically just completely dug the thing out with screwdrivers, hammers, picks ect. I used a torch to melt the plastic as well, then dug out the burnt remains. Took about an hour.
