Service Engine Soon Light still on problem code 1320
I have a problem with my 99 Max. I have a 1320 code and I have changed all of the spark plugs with NGK platinums, I changed all of the ignition coils since I wasn't getting a code for a specific one. I had the crank shaft postion sensor replaced, and I even had the knock sensor replaced. After doing all of this the light stayed on and it read the same code. After all that I had all of the ignition coil harness tested and cleaned, and I still have the same problem. I had the wiring checked out and the only unusal thing that was found was a purple wire coming from the stereo head unit to the tach, which the mechanic said shouldn't affect the check engine light. Does anybody know of anything else I could possibly do? Everytime the light is reset it comes back within seconds and it still shows the same code. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It was the rear one. I ran into this other post>>
>>0201 biggest pain in my a$$
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THIS IS WHAT I FOUND IN THE STICKIES, MY POST IS BELOW THIS
0201
Diagnostic Trouble Code 0201 indicates a problem with the ignition coil and power transistor. The ignition signal from the Engine Control Module is sent to and amplified by the power transistor. The power transistor turns on and off the ignition coil primary circuit. This on-off operation induces the proper high voltage in the coil secondary circuit.
The malfunction is detected when the ignition signal in the primary circuit is not entered during engine cranking or running.
The items to check include
- Harness or connectors (the ignition primary circuit is open or shorted.)
- Power transistor unit built into ignition coil
- Condenser
- Crankshaft Position Sensor (REF)
- Crankshaft Position Sensor (REF) circuit
A misfire on any individual cylinder should set a code, and a problem with the CPS should also set a code.
I would have expected to see DTC 0201 along with one of the following DTCs.
0407 - Crankshaft Position Sensor (REF)
0608 - Cylinder 1 misfire
0607 - Cylinder 2 misfire
0606 - Cylinder 3 misfire
0605 - Cylinder 4 misfire
0604 - Cylinder 5 misfire
0603 - Cylinder 6 misfire
You didn't get one of these "companion" DTCs, and that is puzzling. Maybe one of them will show up in the next few days.

I have checked all the coilpacks with the ohm meter and they test good. I tested all the fuel inj with the ohm meter and they all test good.
This is the only code i get, no other codes follow to tell me where to head next in troubleshooting. I guess the only thing left to replace would be the CrankShaft pos sensor.
Any help would be appreciated.
Earlier i was getting rear bank running lean and then i switched the rear bank fuel inj with the front and its been 2 weeks and no running lean codes yet. So this is the only code i got left.
I got lucky because 5min after i got it smogged yesterday the friken light came on.

Do you think I should change the front one now?

My car came up with the code p1320 today as well. It didnt specify a cylinder though. When we hooked up a wide band it came up as around 15:5 a/f ratio. My coils are less than a year old and my plugs are NGK IX less than 2 months old. My idle is fine so i doubt my maf is bad although thats common on the vq30dek.
Im getting kindve scared to drive it so lean after reading a few threads on this topic any help?

It's a common problem, as far as you can change the coil that is causing problems, and be done with it. My problem has me at my wits end. Try changing everything related to that code and still end up with a Service Engine Soon light giving you the same code. Im just waiting on the 09 Max to be available so I can upgrade.

Try going through the whole ignition system power transitor located in front of the engine wire harness wrapped in black tape, air intake temp sensor helps the ecu determine ignition timing to start the car which is apart of the sytem check all crank and cam sensors and coolant temp sensor, its in your factory manual or hanyes read it and learn how the electronic ignition system works on these cars. Do you have starting problems when the car is hot?

I did have the ignition sytem looked at and crank sensors replaced. I dont have any problem starting the car and it runs perfect. Someone else (not from the org) did mention something about the fuel system. I am going to take your advice and look into that next and hopefully I can get rid of that service engine soon light. I have never had this much problem with my car and I've had it for 7 years. I've had the service engine light come on before about 3-4 times through the years, but it always has been a simple fix (ignition coil), but now it's been a pain to deal with. But I do appreciate your advice.

mine has been on for 3 years MAXIMAK99 and i have a 99 that i just sold to my cousin.... its like a ghost code that wont go away... i mean there must be something wrong but the damn car runs so good why screw with it... but for real i thhought mine was on because i changed my coils over the course of a year and not all at once ....
