MEVI Vacuum Source

i am using the FPR as a vacuum source. it works fine (im assuming its working under load). i switched the vacuum source out to the little hose on the factory mid-pipe 'box' because ive read that the fpr is not the most reliable. while in neutral i revved it up to 5k a bunch of times. it activated the mevi about 3 or 4 times, but after that it stopped activating. now im not too sure about how this whole vacuum deal works, but im assuming that this air box doesnt build vacuum in neutral at idle? was that even close? is this normal and should i be ok on the road if i wind it out past 5k a bunch of times?

Vaccum is AFTER the Throttle Body. Anything before the TB, (Between the Filter and the Throttle Body) is just fresh air. That will never be Vaccum.

Switch it back to the FPR and call it a day.

** yes yes bump from the dead **

Just wanting to check that the FPR is still the recommended vacuum source?

Had a friend who put a MEVI on and used the FPR but it developed some
pinging/knock issues which I think he pinpointed down to the fpr tap

I'm 1000% positive your friends experience is NOT related to using the FPR for vacuum. You'll be fine.

I had tapped off the MEVI a bit differently than most, but I did remove the spaghetti of tubing. The easiest place is the FPR because the vacuum gallery is a huge cluster. Pretty much any hose after the TB is fine.

The knocking and what not could be from a leak. The EGR is vacuum operated and so if the line leaked then the EGR wont open.
