Peeps with Konis, need Ur help
I have a white I30 and im having a dispute with a local shop over the install of the Konis. What i need is your input on how long you have had the Konis and if you have had any problems with bolts backing out and so on, If you have Konis on H&Rs your reply will be extremely helpful, Im trying to prove a point here so please only serious replies.
Im arguing my point on ImportsNC here is the thread

It is very obvious what happened, the retaining bolts keep on working themselves loose. "flattening" the bottom of the strut casing is NOT normal installation, the bolts have been known to work themselves loose over time unless you use some thread lock, which I'm not sure why they didn't do in the first place.
It really doesn't seem like their shop did much, if anything, wrong, besides not using thread lock. IIRC the torque spec is either 55 or 85 ftlbs on that bolt so they gave it adequate torque. Be happy that it did not do any real damage to your car, take it back in and have them use thread lock. You should have no more problems.
I should probably add that I've never used thread lock and I have never had the retaining bolts work themselves loose (and I RAIL on my suspension), but I have read that it is a relatively common problem--possibly because it is a PITA to tighten the bolts to spec without a vice. I don't think that's a good excuse for a shop, but you never know. Have them use thread locker (or do it yourself) and the problem should be solved.
