note: this is not my car. if i had built my car the way i wanted to the first time around it (circa 2003-2004) would have looked amazingly similar to this. i know most of you are not going to like it but its something very different than whats been done over and over.





what i like: clean body and paint, sliding rag (might do one myself after all after seing this), stance, i would run smaller wheels but these don't look bad at al to me (22s btw for you big wheel haters)

what i don't like: lights, mirrors, interior

I agree that matte finish is pretty damn hot! The 22s aren't that bad since it has a kit but too big for my taste and I'm not diggin the shaved look but we all have our own styles.

 

Oddly enough, I like it. That's saying a lot, too, because I usually hate everything that this car stands for pretty much (i.e. flat black paint, big chrome rims, etc.). Somehow it all just works though

 

a different interior would make it better...also stock mirrors would be better...but otherwise it looks pretty decent.

 

Seems like the sliding rag would produce a lot of noise. I have a Jeep and the top on it is loud as can be going down the highway. I don't see how it would seal well either. The grill is horrible. I don't see how you can take a curve because it looks like the wheels and tires are tucked under the wheel well. It is in severe need of some tint. The matt black paint looks like some kid ran out and got some cans at Walmart and decided to paint his car. The interior doesn't match the exterior at all. I like the two tone look, but one section needs to be black to pull off the brown. I would have done khaki/black myself. I'm not sure what is mounted on the passenger's side front interior, but if it's a TV, that is kind of cool. And dear God... he's got Fuzzy Dice!!!

The last thing I can complain about is he really needs to fix the cracks in his driveway.

The only thing I like on the car is the sliding rag, but it doesn't seem practical. The Stillen kit is nice as well, but it's kind of common (at least here on the board). He's obviously got a lot of money tied up in that car, but if I put half of that money into mine, I'd have one seriously sharp ride.

Gotta give the guy credit though... he did at least attempt to think outside the box a bit.

 

i like it alot minus the rims(there to big)and interior but not totally i think if the colors were diffrent i would like it even more. other than that it really looks sharp. i like the shaved door handles. and the primer black is a good contrast with the smoked lights

 

not singling you out but i like how you gave reasons about what you don't like so i'll adress what i know about.

not sure about the noise issue but sealing is an issue with ragtops. a well done install using a high quality rag shouldn't leak though.

the car is on air ride so you lift the front to turn.

i would bet my last dollar that it is a 3 stage paint job with a satin clear. i've never seen a prime job that even. (since most ppl are saying "primer")

yes and no. he did something different than whats common on the org, but in the scene the carcomes from its all pretty standard.

If it were mine, I'd change the interior (as mentioned) to stock black leather, get some other wheels (probably black or a nice thick silver 5 spoke), tint, change the grille to stock, stock mirrors, and leave most of it as is.

I like it.. the rag top is a major plus IMO.. Lose the blacked out tails and head lights and it will look good.

That is a paint job, not primer.

The car used to be hideous. It's come leaps and bounds since it was two tone GOLD AND GREEN with bolt on spinners on 20" wheels.

Those are 22x8.5" Lexani Onyx wheels. Rather expensive. I AM a little curious how he came across the correct offset though, as I am only aware of a +mid 30s offset.

This is by far the best look, thus far.

 

it comes a 22x8.5 45mm and its not exspensive at all for a 22. either way it looks decent and is a nice build.

like many others said, the grill and mirrors need to go,
the interior needs to change, probly just add some black into it,
and i dunno about the rag top.

as others have already stated, not sold on the 2 tone interior. no, make that 3 tone. The dash is a different color and then there is that black thing where the airbag should be. 4 tone.

If that is an amp rack in the back seat, I do like that. I also really like the ragtop and the flat paint contrast with the with the chrome rims. Albeit I personally think that they are a little big but, maybe thats' the style where that car comes from.

looks like the owner is rolling without head rests. saftey first I think. Also, some projectors in the headlights I am sure would make a difference. I would imagine that the light output on those is next to nill if he's (the owner) is still using the regular bulbs. UUgh.

Also, it is sorta hard to tell, but something tells me that there is no inner taillights on the rear of that beast. Must have shaved those as well? What did the owner do about the reverse light and an inspection? I would like to see a picture of the rear and how he did what he did to the airtank. What about plates?

I also have to say that I am surprised that the owner did not go that extra step and have the stillen kit frenched (or smoothed) into the body work. If thousands were spent on the paint (which I believe to be correct) why not spend the few extra $ and have something that looks really cool? It is pretty cool and I do like it, but those would have just pushed it over the top for me.

I was unaware of the +45 offset...

But coming from our dealer pricing at the shop I work at, they are pricey. Easily double what most 22x8.5 FWD offset wheels go for. Maybe the markup online doesn't reflect current profit margins in-store.

 

yeah the inners are shaved. its not a big concern in that scene (a lot of trucks run completely shaved tails).

 

couldn't tell ya... i don't pay retail.

Didn't know about that air ride BLACKonBLACK98... thanks for the info. I was seriously wondering how he turned. I know it's not a primer painted car, but that's just what those look like to me. They're called chalkboard paints around here and it's an expensive paint job. It's just a personal preference of mine, but if I'm putting that kind of money into paint, I want it to pop. If it was an obsidian metallic clearcoat, I think he could pull the tails and headlights off. The style of the rims are nice, but too big for my taste. 18's would be as big as I would go and even that would be pushing it for me... I'd be more likely to get 17's so I don't lose too much comfort in my ride. I'm not sure I get what he's trying to do with the car though. Shaving and smoking the lights and the paint style makes me think he's going to black out, but then there are the bright rims which look out of place. I think black or graphite would look better (and I very rarely say that black rims look better on anything).

That ragtop look though is *really* growing on me. And I still want to know what that thing on the passenger side of the car is (and in the mid-rear seat as well).

I did tweed in one of my cars... it's easy to clean. That's about all I have to say positive about it. But whoever wrapped the dash didn't do a very good job.

 

yeah i was peepin the wrinkles and they obliterated the dash line.

 

IMO it would look a lot better if that thing around the screen in the dash were painted tan so it would blend in more with the dash. I do like how the piece in the center of the dash (the part with the radio and climate control, don't know what that's called) is black though.

 

Thanks man... so it *is* a TV... I do like that. The rest of the interior... I think I just threw up in my mouth a little. Can't get past the fizzy dice though.
