Maxima of a completely different style. Discuss.
IMO it would look a lot better if that thing around the screen in the dash were painted tan so it would blend in more with the dash. I do like how the piece in the center of the dash (the part with the radio and climate control, don't know what that's called) is black though.
my friend and I did something similar to that tv in the dash to his dakota

it came out pretty nice, but in the maxima's case, i'd say no airbag FTL
im not feeling the fabric covered dash at all either

so THATS what flat black (looks like a flat blackish color) looks like on a max....one day i was waxing my max and went it came to a haze it looked like the car was flat black. needless to say i loved it and was curious
Good God matte black is hideous. WHY do people think it looks good? It just looks like primer or some idiot painted it w/ Rustoleum in his backyard.
Also, everything about this car is just gross...absolutely no taste whatsoever.

seems like more people like it than hate it............
I threw up in my mouth after seeing the interior though.
Yes, it's my opinion, but since most cars out there are NOT flat colors, it's pretty generally accepted that it's fugly.
Basically someone tried to "pimp out" a Maxima. What they didn't realize was that it's not a Cadillac Maxima, it's a friggin' Nissan.
I like the fuzzy dice though, lol.
I think the flat black looks great but from what I hear, is really hard to do so that it looks even. Ever seen Robs (from Rob & Big) SUV? Flat black. Looks so fkn good. Something about the sun not reflecting off a car when all others around it do that makes it stand out.

and thats just supercars that you can't deny. i could eat up the orgs whole bandwidth with full-size/mini trucks with satin paint jobs.
No taste. Seen any flat black cars at any real car shows lately? I haven't. Also, if so many people like the idea, why is this the first time we've seen it on a max?

I really only think it looks good on older muscle cars but on this max it doesnt look too bad. Not my style but this Maxima is able to pull it off, maybe its the chrome. There are some Maximas on the ORG that have done it and to me just look really really bad.

Other cars...

I guess its time to stop posting your opinion as if its fact.
okay and now to my original response
personally I didnt think matte black really fit the Maxima body but now I'm seriously having second thoughts...man...this car looks good.
black, the rag top really doesnt look horrible, I just dont like the idea of such a big hole being covered by just a cloth...same reason I think soft-top convertibles look a little funky.
the car overall looks pretty damn good though...and I'm usually not a fan of big baller wheels either. Mirrors/grille/lights are not my taste but I like the rest. The carpet
interior could stand to go, I like the interior seat colors if they werent that material though

It is OK, some minor details to be changed, and I think a glass roof would have been better but who am I to judge.
So basically, the only ones that can sorta pull it off are super cars, that maxima is really uneven and looks like spraypaint.
I apologize for stating my opinion as fact, but in reality, how often do you see a good execution of flat paint on a car? Most of the time, it just looks like it needs to be finished.
Woops, edit: this was in response to the paint.

you should stick to what you know. if you don't like it thats all you have to say, but this is not a new style and its widely accepted in a few different styles of car modification.
i've been seeing it for years. matte finish isn't new and has only recently made it onto supercars. the first maxima looks great (in regards to the paint job, not overall impression of the car) the other 2 are primer and not even close to the same thing.

I definitely would NOT have put the tweed stuff in the car, it seems like it would make the seats really hot, and you'd have swamp-*** all the time.
note: this is not my car. if i had built my car the way i wanted to the first time around it (circa 2003-2004) would have looked amazingly similar to this. i know most of you are not going to like it but its something very different than whats been done over and over.

what i like: clean body and paint, sliding rag (might do one myself after all after seing this), stance, i would run smaller wheels but these don't look bad at al to me (22s btw for you big wheel haters)
what i don't like: lights, mirrors, interior

Looks good to me ..... I'm from the UK, and have not seen many good looking ones over here,
Do you have many UK members on here ?

Agreed. Thats why I stated stated that I only really like the look on older muscle cars. Thats the traditional look.
This car is sick..

I must be dreaming. maxima.org is actually having a nice civil conversation about something semi interesting!!! LOL!!
Wait...just for fun...
hey, guys, I know this is off topic but I wanna get a intake cause I hear you get crazy gains. Whats better? K&N panel filter, injen style cold air or short ram. Opinions please!! Oh, and what does the 0505 code mean??

Eh, I'm not a fan of it. If I could put the same time and money that guy had into my Max, I'd be running low 12 quarter miles.
I think the satin clear coat worked well, though. However, I'd call it more semi-gloss instead of flat black. Flat black is ugly and hard to get even. However, Semi-gloss might work.
The smoked lights, however, are too much. I'm more in favor of basing a car around a style, not a color. If you're gonna have black paint and a low tint, you need different colors, like red taillights, maybe with red calipers to tie into the taillights, and bright, chrome-colored lights to offset all the black.
I'm still trying to figure out why he can't run the air tank hoses in the back through the bumper, instead of out and over the top. Maybe I'm just dense, though.
Alright, that's just my $0.02, I'll stop, as I could rant for hours on poor style choices. However, I must still give him credit for having a style.

Ugly grille, ugly mirrors, ugly rims - 22" is just plain stupid, I hate the roof, I like my door handles, the pass-side tv screen is dumb, the steering wheel doesnt belong on a grocery getter, the interior materials are gay, the floor mats dont match the seats/dash, stock gauges after all that hard work on the rest of the car, its an auto... sorry, but
What I do like is the flat black
and props for being some-what original

The reason for the hardline going out and over the top is because the bends must not exceed a certain degree (I don't remember off the top of my head), and air tanks generally only have two mounting points, so his methods for mounting were limited.
And if you had any idea the amount of money in that car, you'd be either much lower than 12 seconds, or driving a high end benzo.
And your idea of 'poor style choices' does not equate to poor style choices. Just because you do not like it, does not mean he is anything less than happy with it.
pure show (i dont like it either). it took me a while to realize he did the tank thing to cover up the plate box since he frenched one into the deck lid. once i noticed that it ruined the creativity points i was giving him and it looks really bad.

I like it.

are you fawking cereal..
