Orignal Muffler Question
Orignal Muffler Question
So I bought my Maxima with 60k on it with it's second muffler. The original owner said the b-pipe and the muffler were damaged when the hangars came loose. The owner told me the new muffler and b-pipe were only 6 mo old and they were OEM Nissan parts. I somewhat believe him because he took exceptionally good care of the car but I could tell they don't look stock. The is zero rust on any of the welds or any of the parts. A winter goes by and a weld on the B-pipe completely rusts away, I order a stillen B-pipe and install it reusing the muffler. Both the B-pipe and the muffler said Nissan Calsonic which im assuming is OEM i expected bosal or something. The b-pipe had the worst rust ive ever seen on an exhaust.
I wondering why an over priced OEM replacement would only last a year an a half?
Does anyone know if there are any knock off mufflers floating around or does nissan just make bad replacement parts?
I've read that the OEM exhaust is partially stainless steel is this true?
