Yes... wash it all down the drain and into the water table, that is a smart (and legal) thing to do...

As opposed to what, shopvac'ing it all up?

Sure, there are better ways but I don't imagine wherever he lives will look more kindly upon oil-dri all over the street vs trans fluid/gear oil.

Sadly, some people think that there is stuff at a water treatment plant to draw out chemicals and other weird things.

Water treatment plants pretty much digest poo. Not much else.

Airports use kitty litter on fuel spills. Not sure where they dispose of the kitty litter, though.

THANK YOU CRIME!!!! I was waiting for someone to mention Simple Green....

Use kitty litter to get the bulk of the fluid and then Simple Green and a scrub brush.

Simple Green is also environmentally friendly

I can imagine people driving by wondering why the hell this fool is on the street scrubbing the pavement lol. jk.

Use simple green and a brush like said before. I use that for any and all cleaning and it works wonders.

^^ this was unwarranted. Mistakes do happen. Ever knock your oil pan to the side accidentally while change your oil? I doubt you haven't, even if you say you haven't. Get lost.

Ok, first let us work on your Grammer, say it with me now, G r a m m e r .... good, ok, now S p e l l i n g. Oh ... there's more to the second word though. It requires action as well, maybe try that. I am no perfect speller either, but at least I try!

Udie ... your watter looks like that because you live in Palatine! LOL Just kidding, I grew up in Aurora and my watter did look a bit better than that, but only a little.

That was just an example. Fact of the matter is I KNOW you have spilled some sort of fluid on the ground before when working on your car. I'm 99% sure we all have.

fact of the matter is you should know how to clean up your mess. in a garge i would clean up a small oil spill with what ever. but thats on a concrete floor. easy to clean and just wipe up. or cat litter/oil absorbant for a big mess. on the street/pavement its different. oil dry/absorbant/cat litter is fine also but it has to be dispossed of properly. not washed to the side. thats gov. fine/jail time.

Please don't wash it down the storm drain, which is not connected to city treatment, and goes into the lakes and streams.

Guys, I may be wrong, but judging from his other thread that he created a few days ago, http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....564&highlight=
this is most likely the mess that he's talking about:

It's not as if he has 6 qts of ATF on the ground with the intention of sweeping it into the sewer @ 2:45 AM while wearing a ninja suit

I would use Kerosene and wipe it up. I use that in the garage when I have a bigger than normal spill. Oil, ATF, Coolant, etc. Works great.

I was fairly certian that was what the o.p. was refering to. Brake clean and shop towels would be just fine for that. And I said..."Ensure the fluid DOESNOTleak into the nearest storm water drain"

no sence getting your panties in a bunch over something you misread. mistakes do happen. Lets all try to get along. People have been banned for calling other members names and posting comments like you did Thanatos
just FYI.
