Clear Corner Problems

I tried installing the clear corners from the instructions given in ShopTalk on this website. However, it was virtually impossible to screw the 10mm hex back into the lens from the inside of the car no matter how hard I tried. (Almost broke my wrist) The screw part on the 10mm seems too short and won't even reach into the light. Is there any other way to secure the corner lenses?

Had same problem. I heard some people just put a screw in it. Haven't tried it, tried too hard to put that 10mm hex back in. Damn thing!

So how did you end up securing it? I keep on feeling like they're going to fall out when I'm driving.

i was and still am worried about them falling out but they have been in for about 3 monthes now and they are still attached. I just popped them in. I need to do the screw thing so no pucks can steal them.

Instead of trying to screw in my corners the hard way, I simply used some silicone sealant type glue (found it in the garage) that holds them in perfectly. The glue doesn't set up too hard so I am able to remove the lenses if need be. Just apply a decent amount into the pressure fitting that holds the nub on the lense, then press the lense in. Let it dry for a little while, then go driving with NO WORRIES.

3M double-sided foam tape works well also.

But you should try and make them theft-proof with the screw method if you are worried baout such things.

no glue and no silicone

look at the lense.. the piece that "plugs" and holds the lens in place is that hex screw.. unscrew it like a 1/4 of an inch or so... so that it sticks out further.. then POP it in. unscrew as much as needed, when you can just tap the lense to make it fall out, it works.

i have done 120+ with mine like this and they are fine.. takes a flathead screwdriver and some prying to pop mine out..

if you silicone or glue you have that crap all over..

Hi, if you look underneath the front of your car right under where u'r clear corners are, you will see a black plastic piece of plastic that goes from one side of the car to the other. Just pop off the piece of plastic on the side of the clear lens you are installing and you will be able to reach up behind the clear lens and secure the bolt. (there are two screws that hold this piece of plastic on each side of the car, you will have to unscrew these in order to pop the piece of plastic out slightly so that you can reach your arm under the car and up behind the clear lens.

The silicone doesnt get crap all over, you just put it in the little pressure fitting. If you need to remove the lense, use a flathead screwdriver and a towel, but you have to pry HARD. Once its out, the silicone glue just peels right off of everything easily, so you can reapply it to put the lense back in. MUCH easier than the screw method and still theft proof, unless the thief is gonna sit there for a few minutes to pry it out.

I'm in Savannah, Ga. To my knowledge there isn't too much theft of the clears so I didn't worry about making them theft proof. I did find that the diamond clears I put in didn't stay in. Went to Lowes and got some weatherstriping and trimmed it in width and put a piece on top, side and bottom. They act to wedge the lens in. No problems, nice tight fit and they stay where they're put.

Cheers

So you have the diamond cut turning signal and the amber side marker? Ive never seen that combo before. You should just get the remaining two pieces and throw some hyperwhites in them. It would look better than clear and amber combo. Just my opinion
