Car wont start after filling up gas...wtf?

Ok, a few buddies and i are going down 95 south to NYC, when i decide to fill up gas in my car so that i wont have to do it on the wya back. I already had half a tank, so i filled it up, and when i get back into my car to start it up.....it fails....

There's a crank, starter spins, seems like theres no fuel going into the engine...perhaps its my fuel pump?

There were NO signs of anything while driving, car was going perfect till i decided to pull over to the rest area.

To make thsi story more exciting, i had to wait 9 hours at the mcdonalds rest area on the side of 95 south to wait for a 5 passenger tow truck that would take me back to Mass...9 hours! i almost went insane!

Right now, car wont start and is just sitting around

anyone have any suggestions? could it be the fuel pump? Its got 94k on it now and its a 1999, the only thing going bad on it nowadays is the coil packs...but this is extremely rare and i was so shocked to see it mess up during my trip to nyc ! ! !

Cam or crank sensors get my vote, to date I've yet to see a fuel pump fail on a maxi.

Tow it down to middleboro and pick it up later that day?

Was the gas station Luk Oil? Im serious. They had major problems this week with large amounts of water getting in their gas, and it damaged many cars. It was widespread over many Luk stations. They will pay for all repairs, towing, etc.

Okay, do this first, crank the car, as you are cranking, look at the security light. Is it staying lit? If so you need to tow your car to the dealer and have them reprogram your keys.

I checked the fuses and all that good stuff, looks pretty good. There is NO CEL.

I think its the fuel pump becuz i was able to get the car started only ONCE and i gave it some gas at one point, it was able to start, but it immediately shut off.

or maybe a kinked fuel line.then i would also take off the fuel hose going to the fuel rail to see if there is pressure and fuel. if no pressure or fuel i would suspect a clogged fuel filter or bad fuel pump or a kinked hose further back in the car. but if there is pressure there then you can probley count both of them out.

id check simple stuff first then go more technical once you have tackled all the simple stuff out off the way.

can you hear the fuel pump when you turn your key???

99grnmaxgxe would the car even crank if the key imoblizer was shot??

I dont think its the fuel pump anymore cuz i took out the line that foes before the fuel pump and when i put the key into "on" position, you see fuel gushing out.

I have no clue what it is nemore. Finally got it towed to a mechanic, we'll see what happens now...

Hey what was the gas station that you went too?

In the Tri-State area, LukOil has been getting some real heat for adding water to their gasoline. So in response, LukOil is paying for the damages, all you have to do is contact them.

LMFAO you never tried my method, I'm pretty sure (not to be cocky) that I'm correct.

And locknuts, yes the car does crank when the immobilizer acts up like this.

99grnmaxgxe....

if its the immobolizer system, u said that the security light will remain lit while cranking??

Also, what if i try a spare key...is it the key or the car that could be the problem???

That thread is from '05, but who knows. Maybe you did get one of those shady batches of gas. Let us know what the mechanic finds out.

Yes the light will remain lit. From what the dealer told me, if you put in a spare key with NO chip, your immobolizer would kick in and you would have to get your keys reprogrammed. So yeah do not put any other keys in their except for the originals with the chip.

Is your car at the dealer?

Diesel pumps are different sizes. It's almost impossible to fill a car with a diesel pump unless you just kinda hold it there and hold the handle down.

they can run you anywhere from around 90 to 140. Can't wait to hear what it is because i had the same problem and mine still isn't fixed. i'm going to get rid of my immbilizer all together. everytime i crnak my car the security light stays lit but even nissan told me they can't reprogram my keys to my car. Something about the keys and computer wont hold prgramming. So i'm getting rid of the immobilizer.

ok so check this out....changed the crank sensors, and the car still wont start...

Now, since im at school, and the car is at the mechanic, its difficult for me to check the security light.

NOW check this out....i remember FRYING my security light in my car because i tried changing the LED to blue...now if thats the same security light u were talking about (the red led) then im screwed, since my LED doesnt even work...UNLESS there is a security light in the guage cluster...i cant remember if there is one or not...

What the hell should i do ?

I wish I steped in this thread sooner because the problem your having Is all realated to the immobilizer. I am sure If you had the LED still working it would stay on and prevent you from starting your car. The immobilizer will stay on though.

Can i reprogram the keys without towing the car to the dealership? Will the spare key perhaps work? Is there anyway to really tell if its the immobolizer system besides the red LED security light (Since mine hasnt been working)?

This is so whack.
