Decisions on summer mods

Decisions on summer mods
so as of right now im still running on oem 15" rims and winter tires. Weather is getting hotter and i wanted to do progress lowering and tire change at same time but I dont think i have the money to do both right now and think i should go and put 17s on it right now without the drop? good idea or bad idea? And also i was going ot stick to oem and put 17x7 but after doing a bit of research on here i think 17x8 or 9 would be better and fill up more? and i will go with low profile tires just to keep the same size ratio as oem. Any suggestion on tire rim combo?

Good call Morpheus. I would also take care of the suspension first. Do it once, do it the right way. Ya don't wanna cheap out on just lowering springs. Worry about rims later. Tokico Illuminas may be something to think about or Tein basic damper coilovers which are what I'm running in the pic below.

Tires all the way. If I had one handling mod allowed only, it would be the right tire. The stock suspension is not that bad and you can change it anytime.
Not to mention your snow tires won't hold up in the summer heat well and you want them good for next winter.

exactly what i was thinking, and i dont want to go and buy 15" summer tires then have to go and buy 17" summer tires again when i change rim size. And when i do suspension i plan to change everything not just the springs: struts/springs/shocks/boots. I was thinking of going with progress springs b/c i didnt want more than a 1.8" drop since i am in canada and i dont want to plow snow in the winter nor do i want to remove the springs in the winter. Then again i maybe better off going and buying used 15" summers and doing my suspension first?

It's not often that the stock suspension is shot.
Either way, you have to touch the ground, and you do that whether stopping, starting, or turning - tires are the fundamental performance mod. Nothing else has such a broad effect.
Of course if the OP is going to change wheels and suspension for the looks, and buys cheap tires, he has no soul.

I'm not a Maxima knowledge guru. However, on your decision to purchase just springs; I've been told that you should always switch out the OEM struts if you chose to do so. I'm currently looking for the best set up to switch out my OEM suspension as well.
