Bypassing AC compressor=Shorter belt life?!

ok, so sum may kno, my AC compressor clutch **** the bed last summer, So I thought...

"Hey what if I bypassed it with a shorter belt?" Well I did that last sept and everything was mint...but now... that belt is all cracked and squeaking when I turn the car on and it goes away after 5secs(of If I rev it up to 4k)... Now, I know that the belt is not routed right... but why won't this belt last longer then 6months? Thats kinda crappy... I figured it should last as least as long as if it was routed the correct way. Most belts go over a year and half.. this is BS... lol

Does anyone else have that issue? If you don't can anyone give me the part number and brand of the belt u used that lasted longer then 6months? Thankz

Do you mean cause of the squeel? or the cracking? I thought it might be too tight... but I couldn't TQ it... so I just did it until it felt right...

Bypassing it does nothing to wear. Buy better belts.
