Grounding Kit How To?

I have searched and the vqpower link doesn't work. So is there any where I can find how to either make my own and/or install a ground kit. I've seen them on 3bay for $9.99. http://209.200.64.237/images/auto/7481.jpg
Should I go with this one or just make my own. Anyway I still gotta install this thing and I don't know how. So can someone point a brotha in the right direction. Many Thanx.

You take the grounding cables. Route them to things you want to ground.

Ground them.

Installation complete.

This doesn't work for you, eh? http://www.vqpower.com/v2/infusions/...?article_id=63

thats not the grounding points I found
plus y would you ground to the fender? thats stupid.
you should just ground the body to the engine not to the battery. the battery is fine.
plus grounding the body better to the engine there for allows the batter to work better.
plus the longer the wire the worse the ground is you should use short wires, and close points.

All of this is helpful but $49.99
The one I found on ebay was $9.99 + $14.99 shipping.
It looks like I could make this myself. Wheres a good place to get the 4 gauge wire?

You probably can save a few bucks . . . just remember SS lugs soldered on, w heat shrink covering to avoid corrosion; finding the neat translucent wire may be harder, probably at audio shops, even 6 gauge should be ok.

I would just go with the ebay kit. its pretty cheap and will probably look nicer than making it yourself.

You might be able to talk someone into sending you Blemco's instructions (you are only supposed to get them from Blemco after you buy his grounding kit). I have Stillen's instructions somewhere, but not with me at work today, sorry.

Just out of curiousity, why would a grounding kit result in better gas mileage and a gain of a few HP?

what to expect from a grounding kit?

Should give you smoother idle, lil bit better throttle response and put less of a strain on your alternator.
Not a night an day diff but a nice simple mod that helps your car out a lil bit.
There's org members on here that sell nice kits for cheap search around.

Yeah, I can understand the idle being smoother because of less strain on the electrical system, but the MPG gains claimed on that site kind of surprised me. Thanks RacerX1320.

so any word on where these can be purchased BESIDES ebay and besides spending 50 dollars for a fancy one?

if we make our own, what are things to remember when assmebling the mounting clips on the wire?

what guage wire should be used?

is it just speaker wire or is there some special kind of wire i should be looking for?

the best source for quality wire is a welding supply store, you want wore with the highest strand count possible and of at least 8awg although bigger would be better. Use non insulated solder type terminal ends. I ran mine from the starter bolt straight to the battery and noticed an instant improvement. The reasoning behind the mpg claims is that nearly every sensor on the car uses resistance to ground to tell the computer what's going on. If the grounds to the engine have high resistance to start with all of the sensor readings are slightly off and the ecu can not run the engine in its optimum range of parameters.

8awg amp wire should be sufficient.

I did the "Big 3" in 4 awg high strand count mostly for my audio system and dimming headlights, but I didn't notice much of a difference. I soldered on gold plated terminals and everything, pretty classy. Looks cool in my dirty engine bay, where nobody can see. ;-)

sorry to bring back an old thread, but i thought this would be an appropriate spot to ask this. I know grounding kits help keep smoother rpm's, but will it also help with starting the car. My car has trouble starting sometimes, and it has a BRAND NEW starter, will a grounding kit help out at all? thanks.

Run a ground wire from the negative battery terminal to one of the mounting bolts for the starter, that should help.

The best results can be achieved by runing the ground wire from the negative battery terminal to the positive terminal

burning solenoids??

I keep burning out my solenoid on my starter. Think if I run a ground from the - battery terminal to the starter bolt, and one from the - battery terminal to the body it will help??

Everyone remind me not to sell anything to this guy........

The reason I don't hand out those instructions is because I worked very hard finding the PROPER locations to ground the car. just slapping spaghetti on fenders and intake manifolds and crap is stupid and doesn't help anything. Do a bit of head scratching and research and you can do much better.

And that's why my kits are $50 too. $9.99 on ebay (plus $35 shipping? ) will buy you a box of wire and no thought on installation.
