After installing a cold-air intake into the fender well now all of a sudden I have codes 102 and 401, Mass Air Flow Senor and Intake Air Temperature Sensor.
Does anyone have any idea how this installation could have tripped these? Both sensors are plugged in, the car seems to run just as good as normal. This doesn't make any sense to me either, because if there were problems with these sensors-
1.) It wouldn't run very good at all
2.) The ECM would limit engine speed to 2400RPM because of the MAF sensor
I dont have either of these. Anyone have any ideas of what to do?

By resetting the ECU do you mean this procedure?
Quote:
RESETTING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT
To reset the engine light is a simple procedure.
1. Turn the selector screw clockwise to its stop.
2. Wait 2 seconds.
3. Return back by turning the screw counterclockwise to its stop.
4. IMMEDIATELY REPEAT steps 1 to 3.
The next time you start your engine, the check engine light should go away!
And, doesn't this just turn off the light and hide the problems, or if a real problem does exist will it turn back on again?RESETTING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT

no it will reset the computer and have it "relearn" everything again.
if there are actually malfunctioning components, it will re-trip the CEL.
and no i wouldnt bother with that screw method.
go to your local dealership or autozone, they will do it with a scantool for free.

Did you plug the MAF back in firmly?

Typically, MAF's just don't die. They die gradually, so it is either backward (MAF) or not plugged in correctly.

Hahahaha I am an idiot, the intake air temperature sensor wasn't plugged all the way in. It probably read the wrong air intake temp and that didn't match up with the MAF reading thus tripping the MAF code too. I'll get it reset and see if they return.

basically the same thing errboy been saying. Make sure you plug back everything.this includes maf and AIT.Reset the codes and you should be fine. Its funny how people do this mod and never got a code(like when mine was done).

hmm, now that i think of it, i don't even think my AIT is plugged in. Originally Posted by Snypa

think i might of just let it dangle since i didn't feel like drilling a hole in the cai.......

That might throw off the reading a bit, but if you say its dangling at least its plugged into the harness. Mine I thought was plugged in, but i had to pry a clip a little to get it to slide on all the way so it wasn't connected fully to the harness.Originally Posted by g4nismo

Thats not quite correct.Originally Posted by ROCKART

That "reset" as we like to call it here on the .org only clears error codes, it does not clear any operating parameters in the ECU.
That information can be found in the FSM and the Haynes shop manual, chapter 6 page 5.
Disconnecting the battery for long periods of time will clear operating parameters and make the ECU "relearn". The Haynes manual also states that the engine might run poorly while this is happeing and cautions that this should not to be done.
