Ebay Turbo?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TURBO...spagenameZWDVW

This seems like an unspeakably low price for a turbo, too good to be true?

thoughts?

I talked to a guy who was turboing his civic and he was going to use that setup...he said the hybrid is supposed to spool faster?

I should have posted this in turbo section but oh well

anybody know if this is worth anything?

I'm typically not very trusting of ebay items....but if it's legit I'd look into it

The price is really low - but they are still pulling a profit. You can buy direct outsourced generic turbos for about $100.

You will get what you pay for though - they are all inferior and won't last very long. I am surprised to actually see this one has bearings rather than bushings.

The trick isn't buying the turbo itself, its the tuning and exhaust routing that will give you the biggest pain. I've never had the guts to try it out.

Didn't want to mention this before since I wasn't sure but I just checked - a friend of mine ran a T3/T4 on his VR6 Jetta. Car ran 11s when tuned... and 14s before the dyno tune

I don't know why people dis ebay turbo's for... i have used a really cheap turbo kit 250 shippied on ebay for my 240 and used it for 4 years on the stock ka24de engine... NEVER had i problems with it. Intakes are super cheap on ebay. Some intakes cost hundreds... does that mean the intake will perform better.... In my years of racing i can say ebay sells bs from time to time like electric supercharger. But there turbos are certenly not garbage. Look on youtube for some ebay turbo's and you will see some happy people... not saying there the best and i am certenly not a noobie trying to reinvent the wheel just sharing my experience.

i agree with VQrebuild96, Its not going to be as good as a garrett or turbonetics but im willing to bet that the ebay turbo will do what its suppose to do and for under $200 its gonna be a good deal. Ebay can sell stuff cheap cause they buy the stuff in very huge quantities, that doesnt necessarily mean its crap.

To the OP, ebay turbos will do what they say but before you start buying turbo parts you need to read. A small turbo like that will run very hot and kick in very low in the rpms. Google compression maps and learn about different turbo sizes before buying. Also you cant just slap a turbo on. You need custom exhaust work and a quality tune. And my personal reccomendation, dont use an ebay turbo for very long...do the job once and do it right.

This sound prolly stupid, but the turbo is the same for both i30 and this maxima right?

it doesn't matter either way, you would have to get it custom mounted regardless.

The fact that the particular seller you linked to also sells "electric" superchargers scares me quite a bit.

any body notice this while reading?

*Comes with internal wastegate set around 7psi.
*Suggested for 1.6L to 2.0L engine up to 100-275HP
*Comes with 3" Filter

And it's advertised for a 95-99 Maxima, I thought we had 3.0L engines?
Im not doubting that you can put this on our car, but I think is kinda funny that they are advertising this for the Maxima, but only suggest an application to 4 cylinder engines. If I were an advertiser and selling a product, I would only include relevant information for the car you were selling it for. Makes me think they havn't done their homework.

Dude,
1) go to the FI forum
2) search
3) most folks on here wont go near an ebay turbo; some have and are happy, others have and are unhappy. decide if you want to take the chance that this thing will crap out on you in a month and whether that chance is worth the few $100 you save. Its as simple as that

well i used to be a 240sx driver and was on the way to going turbo on the ka24de stock motor..instead of the jdm sr20det...so i was shopping around and have talked to a bunch of ppl about turbos...going by what ive learned in the 240 scene...these ebay turbo's (we called em ssac stainlessteelautoCrap lol)....they tend to blow seals really fast and the impellers would break off and basically cause havoc...if you wanna go turbo that is a good set up t3/t4...it would spool quicker...but i wouldnt buy that one...look for a good used garret or airresearch(by garret) on ebay..i bought mine for 150 back then..it worked well and served well..
