flushing transmition will mess up tranny?

The fact is, automatic tranny fluid is a type of detergent, a cleaner. The idea is that old fluid sludges up a bit, especially on seals inside the tranny. Over time the seals naturally wear out, and the sludge starts to act as "insurance" for the worn seals. When old fluid is flushed with new/clean fluid, it removes or cleans the sludge and encourages the old seal to leak. Same debate with switching from dino to fully synthetic for the engine.

Don't say it's nonsense unless your're going to back it up why you think it's nonsense. People that don't back up their oppinons lack credibility.

I might be wrong, but to my knowledge that is only true with full and semi synthetic. It's news to me if dino oil has the same cleaning properties.
ok. seriously guys. youve all got jaded oppinons on tranny flushes.
flushing a tranny can be a very bad thing or a very regular maintnence item.
first of all your SUPPOSED to flush it about every 32K miles.
Burnt Fluid is caused due to the extra debris in the fluid causeing friction between the hard parts
containinated fluid is usually casued by clutch material and such in the fluid, this is the only case in which id say reguardless flush it; as a contamination can be as bad as pouring water into the tranny
varnished fluid is caused by an internal tempreature being too high.
anyways. high mileage and no flush in the past 78K miles or so. Dont you dare touch that tranny. unless you drive like your 80 years old in a all highway area only.
notice how people always go for the Quick Simple Cheap fix? well... if you notice the trans starting to slip regularly... like say more than once or twice a week. get it checked the heck out ASAP. cause its ALWAYS cheaper to do a tranny that only needs 1 hard part than a tranny that needs a whole new Valve Body, New planetary Gears, a new soft kit, and 12 hours of labor. so yeah. start flushing as a reg maintnence item on a vehicle.

The "S" codes are what specifies what detergents are in that oil. the only difference between synthetic and regular is the molecule shape. the synthetic has uniformly shaped molecules and the regular is not. Synthetic oil is still made crude oil, it just goes through multiple processes to make the molecules uniform.

I Changed tranny oil at about 58,000 miles, (4 months after i purchased her)
I havent gotten any issues whatsoever and had the tranny diagnosed at the dealer twice...I will be changing it again now...(80K Miles)...
The one thing i have heard is....If you leave the fluid in there for too long it is best to keep it that way because when you flush you also flush some metallic particles that the tranny sort of shaves while operating.....which would cause the tranny to lock sometimes because of the major difference in the viscosity of the new fluid.....
hope this helps..

Umm....I dont know that Im thinking its so much about saving milliseconds on the 1/4 time or anything but you dont see logic behind making the tranny shift at full line pressure as opposed to "slipping" into gear at WOT? You mention probable negatives....like? Im hooked up to a toggle switch so its only used when I want, clearly all the time at normal driving conditions would cause problems but at WOT and my discretion I dont see the negatives. Sorry for going OT with this so perhaps we should take it to PM unless others have interest or something to add to the debate.
