97-99 oem red/clear interest thread.

i brought this up a while back and wanted to see if there was still any interest.

what i would be offering is something similar to the old school custom enterprises red/clears only better. it would be an oem replica clear reflector that could be purchased separately (diy), as a complete assembly using new oem tails, or as an add on to my soon-to-be-completed led kits.

cost would be $50-100 range for the inserts themselves.

the 50-100 range would be great if that included everything. The clear reflector inside the stock housing. The Ebay ones suck. Fitment is horrible. I had to purchase those a couple of months ago. I would some from you if the price was right.

the housings would not be included for $50-100. oem outer lights cost ~150 by themselves for the pair.the piece could be retrofitted into your current housings to keep cost down, or a complete new assembly for under 300.

i have a feeling with the ebay red/clears being available for so cheap there might not be enough interest to put these into production, but i thought i would check.

That is true, but for alot of people including myself, I would prefer quality over price anyday.

I would be interested in this.. im lookin more towards the smoked look tho, but still a great idea. Even to have the smoked inserts available would be awesome. you could put a nice lil dent in ebay sales. LOL.

I was going to say the same thing. Why get this when someone can just go to home depot and cut out a flourescent lighting cover themselves?

Because its not the same design. Wrong angle, but its clearly noticeable. Inners are OEM, outers are light lens.

*whispers* can't find anybody to make 4 piece full lenses... yet. but the price makes it a low priority.

Wait, why would you need a 4 piece? We just need the outers

i talked to a couple places about the 95-96 and the general consensus was that it would be next to impossible to make a perfect match so 4 pieces would be required. on top of that its an expensive process and would probably run more than david ls, but because of actual manufacturing costs rather than rarity (i.e. no chance of price drop and small profit margin).

its not completely out of the question but unlikely.
