Adding keyless when it was not factory
How to for removing the radio. After reading it real quick the only thing I do different is after removing the screw for the ashtray is to open the ashtray. I don't see how there able to remove it without doing so. http://www.installdr.com/InstallDocs...PDF/647021.pdf
Yes I got great news. I tried a bcm from a 95 without keyless part # is 28491-40U03 in a 95 with keyless which had a bcm with part # 28491-40U00 and I couldn't get it to ender the programming mode (shut and lock doors enter key 6 times etc).
I have two bcms available that will fit your 98
One I believe is from a 97 with manual climate control part # 29491-2L900
The other I believe is from a 98 with auto climate control part # 28491-0L720
You should be able to use the one with auto climate control but it would have two extra plugs for that system on the front. The back side has the same three plugs the manual climate one has. If you wanted to do the auto climate control swap in the future this would be the one to get.
What is the part # on your bcm?
It is on the bottom so you have to unbolt it to read it.

WE HAVE KEYLESS
Works like a charm when all the right minds and components come together. Thanks to NOPIKE for the theory that the BCM may be option specific and FANATICROCKFORD for putting in the time to test this theory. The only thing that I cant make absolutely factory is the antenna, I plan on tying it into where the diversity antenna for the bose connects to the rear window unless someone has a better idea. The bottom line is that with a little time and some junkyard parts you can have fully functional keyless on a Maxima for less than 100 bucks.

Glad to see the BCM arrived today like it was suppose to. Did you happen to compare yours to the one I sent to see if it was missing a resistor?
Have you found a key fob yet? If so how well does the keyless work now with just the wire I sent.

I found a fob and with the wire laying in the trunk I get about 100 or so feet of range.
Well connecting to the diversity antenna didnt work so well, remote worked good but radio reception suffered. I read while searching a while back that someone had good results hooking the antenna to ground (which is kinda hard to believe as antennas are "tuned"). Is there supposed to be a 2nd antenna in the rear glass on factory keyless?
If anyone is still following this, since I already had the 2 into 1 faston connector I moved my remote antenna from the diversity antenna to the negative side (same side) of the window defroster. Works better than I could have ever expected. I was 50 yards away in the steel cab of an all steel locomotive and i could use it while the fob was in my pocket. Once again, thanks for the help.

The only thing left is to (yikes) cut my drivers door panel to put in the electric trunk release. If not I may try hooking the cable from the original trunk release up along with the solenoid. Not sure which I would like better yet.
Hi ZX9 (or any 1 that can help) I am swapping the BCM from an SE into my GXE. The problem is that i do not find all of the cables that was connected to the BCM when it was in the SE. Are there any cables that are hidden? And the leather seat did not work with the old BCM, was it like that for you?
Thanks
Thanks

The BCM has nothing to do with the seats.
You aren't trying to put a 95/96 BCM in a 97-99 (or the other way around), are you?
What do you mean you 'do not find all of the cables'. Do you mean the wiring harness for it? How can you not find them, they're plugged directly in?
The BCM has nothing to do with the seats.

It sounds like your confusion is a BCM and a car, one had auto climate and one doesn't.
Are you saying that the seats aren't working now? They don't touch the BCM at all, so it's either a coincidental failure, or you unplugged them or something.
