Any MEVIs out there w/ NWP spacers yet?
Any MEVIs out there w/ NWP spacers yet?
I just ordered mine so im hoping they'll be on within a week (i get lazy with mods, i.e. the EU sitting in my dresser since November). I havent heard or seen anyone post about putting the phenolic spacers on their MEVI equipped car. So i was just curious if anyone has done it yet or if i'll be the first MEVI with them. im hoping that since we dont know if theres any benefits for the 00vi guys that the mevi/spacer combo will come close to the same numbers that the 00vi puts out, or atleast close the gap considerably between the curves. afterall the spacers are suppose to make good power pretty much right where the supposed MEVI losses are.
unfortunately i wont have any dynos to prove anything once i get them on (unless Aaron wants to have a b4 and after dyno on the MEVI
)....so my butt will have to do the talking.

Ya I could feel it a little bit in the low end. I dont have any number proof but I can tell they do something, plus the UIM does feel alot less hot. Aaron has the dynos posted which show exactly although on a USIM. The mevi dyno isnt gonna look much different in the low end. Im not quite sure they are worth $225 tho but if you have the money its all good.
actually i think i was the first. got mine done 1 1/2 weeks after they came out on March 16 with luke lol but anyways, like i said before there is a difference felt in mid and low end power, not drastic like OMG!!!! but yes noticeably.
to what you said on the power difference
It should make a nice difference on the LIM, since that's aluminum. It may not affect the UIM temps alot, but it should help a little. Also, as Aaron has mentioned(i think...), the 00VI could still benefit from port-matching as well as slightly lengthened runners.
Yeah, that is correct. It hasn't been tested yet though. We are currently working with a volunteer to determine if the 4th gen kit will match up well to the DEK ports.
well, i installed the spacers this week. started on them wednesday, install was very straight forward. turn the car on and it jumps to 1k and slowly dies. try it again, same thing. intake starts backfiring when i give it gas to stay on, then its starts knocking like crazy so i kill it. we decided it was a leak via carb spray method. so i took a day off from working on it cuz it killed my spirits, but i got it running today. redid everything and put a nice bead of rtv around the spacers. second time around took about 3 hours so that was cool.
as for my impressions (i.e. butt dyno), the supposed ~3k gain isnt incredibly noticeable cuz you rev through that range pretty quickly but wow, right around ~5.2k (on the speedo) and on it feels awesome!! its like mevi x2!!
i wish i couldve done it but im very curious to see a mevi before and after dyno.
the only thing that slightly concerns me is a sporadic starting issue. i havent had them on long enough to notice the trend yet but sometimes it'll start kinda rough and want to die but then jumps back to normal idle all in a span of 2 seconds or so. i'll keep an eye on it....could be something similar to what ROCKART is experiencing after his install but like i said too early to tell so we'll see.

its insane how the car takes off at 5.2k rpms but then that power seems to vanish to normal at 6000. It feels like a temporary N2O shot.

I installed them this past weekend. Aaron has put out an EXCELLENT product, perfect fitment and great instructions. I had a rear valve cover leak I needed to fix, so I decided to install these at the same time.
Minor issues I had-
The lower EGR tube is almost impossible to see. When I re-installed the tube, I knocked the gasket out of place and didn't see it. When I first started up the car, I had a major vacuum leak and the car would not run properly. This is no fault of spacer kit, just something to watch out for. It was relatively easy fix once I found the leak.
Also on startup, my idle RPM would not go below 4k rpm. Turns out my cruise control cable had taken a little bit too much tension, causing the throttle body to open slightly. I cannot blame this on the spacers, it is just odd that the cable moved. Just another something to watch out for.
Fit and finish was 100%. As for power gains, I did not do a before/after dyno, so it's subjective. It does feel a little smoother. I have a quaife diff, and before the install, I could feel the tires start to hunt for traction at the top of 2nd gear. After the install, I can feel them slip a little in second gear. Not scientific I know, but without a dyno, it's the best I've got. I have a MEVI installed, but it is not hooked up yet. I can only imagine the traction issues once that is finalized

A++++ product.
Not yet. There are no guarantees that spacers will help the 00vi since it already doesn't get that hot to begin with. But we are still in the process of determining if the VQ30DE kit will fit on the DEK engine. We already have a volunteer lined up, we are just trying to schedule an exact date.

I figured that the MEVI would be a thing of the past by now, but it's good to see that MEVIs are still being put to use

Wow, talk about a thing from the past. You still here in Austin and have the Max?
so does anyone have a before and after dyno, I've seen plenty of people claim great things from a butt dyno only to be prove wrong when they go to a real dyno
btw arron if you ever start offering just the tb spacer please let me know, I want to tap it for a nitrous nozzle
