anyone ever take out the little shield thingy in their foglights?

what i'm talking about is the shield thingy in the foglight housing that the bulb goes in... reason why i'm asking is cause i was knocking it a bit to make an H3 bulb fit instead of an H3C, and i ended up knocking the whole thing out... does it make a difference in Fog lights in terms of the way the light is outputted?

Anyone ever knock out the whole thing completely and just put the bulb in there?

Thanks in advance.

yeah it's the glare guard i'm talking about..not the shiny reflective background in the foglight housing.

Thanks a lot drax.. I'll finish it up tomorrow and see how it looks..makes me feel a bit better now

Yup, did a write-up as well. They just glare a bit more, a little brighter.

It's a glare shield. The reflector is pretty much the whole inside housing.

Would this make my HID fogs look brighter? I have 6000k all around but the fogs look weaker than the headlights by a lot in my opinion.

I assume I have to bake them to get the shield out. Anyone know the exact time/temp?

can anyone tell me how to remove the black plastic cover to get to the fogs? Its one little plastic screw but the screw wont fall out. I'm not sure if I should just pull on it but I'm afraid it'll break.

isnt the glare shield the same thing that the bulb uses to stay in one place.? if you take it out, wont the bulb be shaking and knocking all about in the fog housing.?

Here's a guide to opening the foglights, i did what he did and it's easy. Well was for me and i have an education of a 3rd grader. i took that light shield out and it appears brighter, when i get a chance i'll upload pics of my Max.

Well I got it all done and installed my new HID's and they look pretty damn cool. Light output is great, although I cant compare it to what it would look like with the glare shield in there since I never had HID's in there with the glare shield.

I'll take some pics tomorrow and post them up.
