o2 sensor problems
o2 sensor problems
Ok so some of you may remember the thread I posted like a week ago where I got the crap flamed out of me for not using my upstream o2 sensors. After a couple people told me why it was they were needed (rather than just calling me a dumb**s) I went outside and tried to install them.
tried
I have the forward sensor in but not wired up yet and I'm having som problems with the aftermarket plug for the o2 bung. Here are my questions:
1. The plug that came with the Y pipe is stuck beyone belief and seems to get tighter either way I turn it now, I think it might be crossthreaded? suggestions?
2. There are 3 wires from the sensor, 1 black and 2 white. I can't tell which white one is which. Are they interchangable?
3. I'm planning on doing some work that requires fuel managment later this summer, could/should I just get a piggyback A/F controller sooner and correct this problem without the o2 sensors?

1. Could be cross-threaded. But it might just be really tight. Use some PB Blaster, let it soak for 20 minutes, and hit it again with a really long breaker bar. Or use air tools if possible.
2. IIRC, they are not interchangeable. Didn't your o2 sensor(s) come with instructions??
3. Regardless of what you do now or in the future, you need the primary upstream o2 sensors. Do whatever it takes to get them installed.

Oh, ok. So you just cut off your old OEM o2 sensors and now you don't know which white wire goes to what. I understand now. I thought you were installing generic aftermarket o2's that don't come with harness connectors. Sounds like it's time to download the FSM for free and figure out the wiring. Not too difficult at all.
