Check front strut mounts

My car gradually - so slowly I hardly noticed - got worse and worse on handling. I was thinking, oh it's just me, but then over about two weeks it went from "it doesn't feel quite right" to "OMG it is all over the freakin' road".

It turned out to be the bottom mounts for the front struts. The mounting holes had gone oval and the rubber was completely shagged. Well, I was a bit broke so I went with the cheap Autozone Chinese ones rather than the expensive but nice Monroes, but the difference!!! It goes around corners again without wallowing all over the place. So if your car's handling seems not to be up to snuff, I suggest it might be worth while taking a close look at the lower mounts...

Yes of course. The front strut mounts. I had no idea they existed before the garage took them off and showed me how ruined they were. One of the front wheels had a visible camber angle change, it reminded me of those old VW Beetles with swing arm suspension. My Max was barely driveable - it was really dangerous, couldn't keep it in a straight line. The mounts cost me around $45 from Autozone, the Monroe ones were twice as expensive.
