Best place to get tires from?

I need a couple 225/17/40 tires for the car. What's the cheapest and best place to get them from? I was thinking walmart but I doubt they have that size in.

These are altima rims....

Check out Sam's and Costco.

Even after paying for the membership, you may come out ahead.

Tire Rack has given me good info, and prices in the past.

why are you getting 225-40-17 tires?

for a maxima? with 17 inch wheels?

you should be running 235-45-17 or 225-50-17 or 215-50-17.....

EDIT: ahh altima rims. i see now

I think Discount Tire would be everyone's best choice! That Road Hazard insurance is cheap and well worth it! I remember having a car that was involved in an accident and my insurance company covered the tires and wheels as well as Discount tire replaced the tires for free! A win, win situation and what they don't carry they will order for you, that includes wheels, tires, accessories, etc...

When I was looking into getting new rims and tires I was checking out discounttiredirect because with free shipping, you can't beat it.

Quick little tid-bit...If you go the CostCo route, you can return anything and everything whenever (aside from electronics, which have a 90 day limit now). But to the point, if you buy a membership and then buy some tires, you can actually "return" your membership afterwards and get a full refund on the membership you bought after you buy the tires and you will for sure come out ahead. I had a few friends that worked there and CostCo will take a return on anything whenever. They had a few people return patio sets they bought 5 years beforehand that were all rusted to hell and got a full refund. I assume they still operate the same way as it's been about a year since they've worked there. It's a crappy way to beat the system and you should probably feel like an *** afterward, but hey...now you know

The rims are off a 2003 Altima SE.

Anyways, I don't know if I should spend so much money, the car is probably worth 1500 dollars tops and I want to get rid of it as is and get something a little newer. I might just go to the ghetto and get some 4 to 5 month used pieces of crap to throw on the car.

I'm trying to save for a better car as is, spending $300 bucks isn't too smart.

Go to your local tire joint and ask to look at their scraps. I've found a decent set in my day for 20$. Lasted quite a while.

I'll check out some cheapies to put on it instead. I'll save all the links for when I get my real car.

man u should be able to find a used tire shop and get yourself so decent 225/40/17 for about $50 a piece installed. Hope their unidirectional, it sucks when you install a radial tire backwards from it's previously installed direction of rotation.....they turn into Maypops!

I've bought several sets of tires from Discount Tire Direct with great results. If you're not in a great hurry, check the website for a while and they may run a promo like $100. off on a set of 4. With free shipping too that is hard to beat.

What tires do you guys suggest for a 2000 Maxima SE? I'm trying to be reasonable in my budget, so I'm not interested in hearing about $200/each tires.

become friends with someone at a tire store and have them hook you up with their discount, the mark-up on tires is huge

I do recommend reading the tire rack reviews. I've used them for their reviews and found many a good tire that way. I also know how to "read" a tire's tread and sidewall to see if it is what I want.

Over the course of two months, I went to the same place three times and got three different printed quotes. The difference between highest and lowest was about 230 bucks on a set of four.

if it was within the last year, I'm not surprised. Tires have been going up in price alot lately which isn't terribly surprising considering they are made out of...........
