Bose LCD screen fading in and out- why?
I have a 95 GLE w/ 60K on it - recently, I noticed the lcd on the stock bose system will occasionally fade out to where I can't really read the information. Eventually, it will restore to its full brightness, usually after about 10 minutes or so of driving.
Then yesterday, I completely lost the display of the system all together-all my other dash lights were completely visible-just the stereo display was out. Again, after a short 10-15 minute period of driving it faintly started to appear. I was going up a hill and had my foot on the gas when I had to slow down. As soon as I lifted my foot from the pedal, the LCD came back 100%.
Anyone no what's goin on here? Is this a sign of an alternator issue?

Same here
I also have the GLE. Mine did the same thing. Your little green light indicating that a cd is in still works also right? It might be fading in and out too. For the most part, I beleive the LCD is dying on you. Mine finally went out and never came back on. I just got fed up and upgraded to an Eclipse 7002 and Eclipse 8 disc changer. Was going to upgrade components as well....but you will not beleive the difference in sound and performance with the bose speakers from that Eclipse unit. It sounds as if I have two tens in the back turned down low even from 20 ft outside the car. Very impressive. Anyway, back to the deck....I would just get rid of it and use the bose speakers for a while until (if) you upgrade components.

Converters
You need converters installed from an aftermarket deck to the bose speakers in order for them to work correctly. A good aftermarket deck (and if it is installed right) will sound much better tan the stock deck. I said it all this way because the way you put it....I didn't think you wanted to keep the deck and replace the speakers. Not sure about the deck with aftermarkets speakers....I'm sure you can do it though. I thouht your display was dying anyway. If you do, ask maximadave in the Audio forum. He knows quite a bit.

A hell of a deal!
I got the Eclipse 7002 display and the Eclipse 8 disc changer both for only $1000. I had a friend at circuit city install it all for me. ($50 total). As for the better sound......ask most peple and they should agree that Eclipse is known for its quality and clarity. It just plain sounds clearer, smoother, is as user freindly as the bose deck, and a lot louder (songs that I had the bass all the way up have to be at the default setting. The middle if-you-will. Some I have to turn below that. Even with it being turned so low.....it is MUCH deeper and louder bass. Same as the highs. I played Darudes' Sandstorm right after install and it was piercing high andthe bass....sounded like tens).
