Idle issue

Idle issue
OK fellow maxima owners, i need some help pleaseee before i loose my mind. I cleaned my throttle body using the motorvate method. ( just routine maintenance, no issues before so ). After the cleaning, i am noticing that when i come to a stop my idle is stuck at 1100 rpm, for a few seconds then it drops to normal.
I checked for vacumn leaks and nothing, everything is well. The only thing i can think of is on the intake thats over the radiator, i pulled on it a bit while removing it to clean it,. after pulling on it a bit i then realized there was a plug on the end of it. But i checked the plug to make sure i didnt pull the wires. Anyone have any insight as to why my idle is sticking at 1,100 for a few seconds before returning to normal? And it only happens sometimes not always.
Thanks in advance

i already cleaned the iacv valve, to try and rid the problem. The only reason i didnt take off the TB was that it wasnt that bad, i cleaned it few weeks ago. and i didnt have a gasket. I guess ill take off the tb and clean it properly.
1.Do you really think that will make a difference?
2.shall i change the gasket? its a few weeks new
3. what is the proper way to tighten the Tb bolts, i read its 4 1 2 3, the number 4 screw being the one on the bottom?

yes taking them off makes a difference. No if the gasket is new I wouldnt bother getting a new one. Tightening order makes no difference, its just to try and get the tighteing as equal as possible. make sure yout intake hose clamps are all tightened when done.

ok i have the throttle body off, i see that the throttle body is open just so slightly by the fast idle cam ( plunger, not sure what its called). Should i adjust it closed, or is it suppose to be slightly open bcz the throttle body is cooled down. Thanks in advance,

Turn the default throttle body stop set screw slightly to close the TB, go 1/2 turn at a time and test drive it.
The reason your experiancing that after the TB cleaning is because now that you have removed all the grime from around the plate, more air is entering the intake. Once you stop the IACV will compensate and close slightly, bringing the idle down to the normal speed.

the default throttle body screw is all the way out, even the fast idle screw was also keeping the throttle open, so i let that out that also,to be sure the fast idle wasnt stuck, same issue. So the culprit needs to be a vacumm leak or the fast idle plunger is opening up. But how come all this appeared after cleaning the TB. Wish i would of left it alone.

Hi
First make sure that the car is warmed up, and then check that the fast idle cam is not keeping the throttle open. There should be a slight gap between the cam and the door opener (about 1 mm). Adjust it to this specification. Also make sure that the throttle stop screw is not touching the door opener.
Now adjust the throttle stop screw so that it slightly touches the throttle door opener. Recheck the fast idle cam setting.
Now adjust the idle speed as follows.
. Engine should be off
· Put the car in Park or Neutral. Remove the throttle position sensor socket
· Stat her up and make sure that the AC, and lights and radio etc are switched off. Wheels should be pointing streight. The engine should be at its normal (warmed up) temperature.
· Adjust the idle speed screw which is a plastic screw on top of the IAC valve to the spec given in the VECI label. Approximately 700 +/- 50 rpm for AT, and 625 +/- 50rpm for MT.
. Now switch off engine and reconnect the Throttle position sensor. Start her up.
All the best and hope this helps…

Im having the exact same issue and it all started after having the TB cleaned as well. Does anyone have a simpler solution that what cedric posted? Or is that the only way to fix the fluctuations?
