Trouble with Manual Tranny

Having a weird problem with my manual transmission. Seems to be getting worse by the day. What is happening is that my clutch up take position seems to have changed. It engages very low now. But the biggest problem seems to be the shifter. Its incredibly hard to get into gear. I have to shove it into gear to get moving. I was thinking that it might be low on oil but I wanted a more expert opinion. Any ideas?

You should probably check the fluid level in the clutch master cylinder reservoir. Also a good idea to have someone push down on the clutch pedal while you look under the hood at the slave cylinder. Check it for proper travel, should be about 1/2 -3/4 inch or so.

check the resevoir......if very low bleed the lines..if not check under the clutch pedal to see if your slave cylinder is leaking....if you see a dark spot on the carpet where the clutch pedal is than you know its bad. if that isn't it clean off your clutch lines and see if there is a leak either from the slaveclyinder or where it connects to the tranny.

but all in all good luck man

More incline to say clutch hydralics...possibly the clutch itself. What happens if you pump the clutch a few times then try? Does it get easier to shift?

yup i agree, sounds like you got a hydraulic leak

SS clutch line = awesome (got one about 4 years ago...the fluid level is still the exact same as the day I put it in!)

I got one after my clutch pedal dropped to the floor as i was crossing the rail road tracks..."luckily" i was stuck in 2nd gear and drove to a parking lot

......had to get it home that night though to avoid a parking ticket...........after talking to a tow truck driver, he said i could start the car in 2nd gear and it would go.....sure did work, but was funny coming to a red light and having to stall and restart each time

Awesme. soundslike everyone is coming to the same conclusion. Unfortunately in my situation and timing I don't have time to try and rectify the situation myself. I have to take it to the dealership. How much do you think it would cost for that service?

where are you ??? Don't take it to a stealership if you can avoid it. pump the clutch a few times ... see if it holds pressure. make sure you are topped on on the resivouir.
