because i love driving 4 door family sedans....even though i dont have a family to haul around in it.
i bought mine because it was in immaculate condition. i loved the tan leather interior...the smooth stock suspension ride....the exterior look....
Initially i wasnt in the market for a maxima. i was looking for a mazda millenia S.

always been a nissan fan !I worked on them for about 10 years and ownd many, from the old 310s to nx2000 and everything in between...but never a maxima.I knew they were great cars ...had a chance to get one with a good body but needed a lot of tlc due to neglect...got it cheap and after a little time and money I know I have a car that will probably last another 10 years...and no car payments!!!!
and it didnt hurt any that they are a lot faster than people think..SURPRISE!

I know I watched tokyo drift and there was one the popped up in the background like 11 times

I got a maxima cause I've always liked them. I get good looks, the funtionality of a 4 door and the speed of a 2 door ....oh and black leather interior

I got one because I had liked them for years for their good blend of style, functionality, comfort, gas mileage, and power. They don't do anything overly well, but there's not too much they're bad at and I don't like compromises.

When I was searching for a newer car.... there was not a lot of 5 speeds available. This was just about the only thing with some power and looked fairly cool. I had orginally made a deal on a GTP and after doing some research.... decided that was not the car for me. My limit back in 99 was ~25,000 and this maxima was listed at 28,999. A little over... made a cold call to the dealership and the sales guy told me that if I offered like 22,000 I could probably take if off the lot. I offered 21,000 and it was mine. All the other 5 speeds were small and 4 cylinder. Needed and wanted a 6 minimum. That's how it happened.

The VQ, a silly fast and amazingly bulletproof engine, wrapped in the cloak of a well built luxurious 4-door sedan.

I actually got my first maxima cause I had no choice. It was my first car and I got it from my aunt. My parents told me I had to get it. But then I crashed it and was in the market for a new car. I stuck with the maxima cause I loved the v6 power and the interior luxury. I also stuck with maxima because they were really the only car I knew how to work on and actually a little bit because of these forums. They also look hellah sweet dropped. Btw my first maxima was a GXE and had zero options installed, my second one I made sure I did it right and got a fully loaded SE.

I bought mine because I wanted something that was roomy for long trips, had decent gas mileage for the cars size and performance, was reliable(Ive known people who have gotten 300k miles out of an auto), and for the price I got it for I cant complain. for the most part the maxima is faster more responsive and more reliable and luxurious than all of its competitors. (accords are to slow and small, camry's are no fun, ES300's don't come in manual, all american cars are crap....)

well i have a 5th gen now but i used to have 3 4th gens before. i bought maximas because of there speed and price. you can get a stock civic for 3k and a max for the same price but the max is way faster and a sleeper too. there was this guy who had an integra and he told me he could beat me cuz my car was a four door. we went to the track and smoked his ***!!! LOL!!

my parents had a 3rd gen when i was a kid, and i loved it most of any car they had. my first car was a bonneville (lolz) and i then bought a 3rd gen, then wrecked it. then i had a 240sx and wanted to swap a VQ into it, but then i figured it was easier to buy another max...so i got an i30t, then ran into some permanent problems and traded it in on my 97 se. i'll probably never drive anything but a maxima. or at least a nissan. i loves them.

... my wife told me to...

seriously. we bought this car new coming out of a god-awful stint in a "gulp"... minivan.

we needed a sedan on accounta we got a kid but really needed to re-find ourselves after that "van-thing".

the maxima was the only car i didn't feel totally suburban and pedestrian driving.

we totally stumbled on the in-yer-face red and that was all it took.

besides, back then (1999) it had "one of the 10 best engines in the world".

anyone remember those ads?

okay well for me it started when i came to the US when i was like 12, our first car was a 3rd gen. all five of us always packed in it and drove around, us fresh from the philippines. with our eyes glistening in awe of America. I guess it stuck with me, its a psychological thing first thing that we owned here was a maxima and we felt secure in it since we didnt know anyone here in the US it was us and the world. so i grew up and bought a 4th gen, my favorite body (ps im only 20 lol), now that i have one i realize how much power for so little money. hondas could never be this fun for so little with all the power options and safety options...so here we are i am in love with this car (shhh dont tell my girlfriend)

After I totaled my first car on an unfamiliar road a few years back, I wanted something with more power, decent handling, and looks that would make me happy to get in it every day (didn't care about gas mileage so much). It was either this pristine 97, or a similar year Accord. Drove the Accord less than a mile and was severely disappointed-it was small and felt weak and cheap...drove the Maxima and it was heaven on Earth

They are my type of car. What other car is fuel efficient, fast, comfortable, luxurious, good looking, and can be had between 3 and 6k in good condition? Plus, it is just taste in cars I guess.

Oh, and also available with a V6 and a 5sp manual. That's a biggie for me.

well.. i got mine dirt cheap. Like if bags of dirt cost a dollar a piece; 175 bags of dirt. yeah. Im not jokeing (guy i bought it from was going to DONATE it! dad offered him 175$ he said "Sure, why not"), and at first i was appauled my dad would even consider a vehicle with over 200K miles, then. I found this forum, and it was in the vast amounts of information i found here that changed my mind. Includeing that of one thread that everyone decided to post their mileage on their vehicle. My mind was immediately changed, and since then i have no freaken idea how i got so lucky to have one hell of a nice car for relatively Nothing. Since then, a year has passed as well as over 20,000 miles and well, Shes still Purrin away!

Amoungst other reasons: Crazy Nice Interior, Sporty yet professional Exterior, Powerrrr, RELIABILITY!

literally took my breath away when i drove her!!! for a 4 door it didn't seem to heavy and the acceleration also! coming from a 2 door turbo to a 4 door stock v6 is pretty impressive in my book. Can't wait to turbo her !!!! yes yes!

Funny story as to why i got a maxima. My friend got his as a first car and he convinced em to get one. He had a 98 5 speed, but he crashed it, but still, he couldn't stop talking about it. So i saw one on craigslist and it was a 96 white with a perfect black interior 5 speed. After 2 months i totalled that car by going 80 on a windy road (don't tell me im an idiot, I already know). After 3 ****ty cars (wrangler, mx-6, my dad's montero) I had the money to buy another maxima. I found another white, with perfect black interior 5 speed maxima but this one was a 95. You cant tell the difference. I'll post some pics and you'll see.

Not planing on crashing this one. I've learned my lesson

btw, both cars had 125K when i got em
