axles, noise etc.

It's been a while y'all. The last time I posted, I had to get a new hub for one side. Since then, I decided to replace both, also replaced axles. Couldn't break the tierods loose so left those for now. Lower BJ's have been replaced. The car's back together, but now I have another noise that is very different. No gear oil was lost while the car was off the ground.
The noise occurs while driving and sounds like the bearing was not properly pressed on the hub; it occurs during driving, but gets somewhat louder during power application. The pitch of the sounds does not change dramatically during driving, which has me thinking that the shaft is not fully engaged with the circlip. It ALMOST sounds like the gear whine of straight cut gears, but the pitch is not as high. Is this possible?
There were no issues putting it back together. I don't have a way to record anything right now...
Could replacing the gear oil reduce tranny noise? Could it be the shaft itself?
I'd hate to have to pull it apart to get that bearing pressed properly if that is it. If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them.
I also have issues with the belt tensioner. I'm getting the squeal when starting and then it'll go away after a bit. It'll come back if I turn the A/C on at idle. No noise during highway cruising and once the car's warm, there's no squeal..Any ideas on how to get that belt tighter or do I need a new tensioner assembly?
