rpm gauge

rpm gauge

once in a while my rpm gauge goes all the way up and gets stuck there. and most of the time the gauge drops down like the car is off but if i pound on the dash real hard it pops back on has anyone else had this problem

may have a loose connection. take your gauge cluster out and check the screws that hold the tachometer to the gauge cluster.

had this problem with my speedo, i just bought a new cluster and replaced it. could be a loose connection or could need a new tach gauge but if it doesn't really bother you, i wouldn't replace it.

Looks like a dry joint. Remove the gauge cluster clean the connectors and try. If this fails, take the RPM meter out and re-solder the connections at the back of the meter.
Do not adjust the variable resistors.
