This heat is a KILLER

Today was horrible. Said to be 95 degrees felt like i was in an OVEN the whole day, and my Maxima wasn't feeling any better.

After a little bit of driving my car started stalling all of a sudden i didn't really give it any taught. At first actually i taught i was stalling it with the clutch since I've always had some clutch problems.

After about 5 stalls with in 10 miles i started to get worried. All of a sudden the car would just shut off. I was hoping its something to do with the heat. On the way to work i got the check engine light. Was too late to get a diagnose so i figured maybe it'll go away once the car cools down in the parking garage.

The problem hadn't gone away however, when i got into my car after work everything seemed fine, the light was still on however. I drove it about 100 feet let off the gas and it stalled. While driving home i did some experimenting and hadn't really found why its stalling but i did notice some things like.

It stalls after i let off the gas or it bogs while i step on the gas a little or alot, when shifting gears the car bogs as if choking. It feels like there isn't enough gas or air going into the motor. Tomorrow morning ill go down to advanced and borrow their OBD scanner, hopefully it'll tell me why the light is on and will allow me to pin point the problem. In the mean time perhaps someone had a simillar experience and knows what to do.

Its a 99 SE-L 5spd, only mods are inject cold air and a muffler which has been on way before i even bought the car.

CLIFFS: read second to last paragraph.

Might check for a vaccuum leak/leak after the MAF. Sounds like a bad coupler in the intake, or possibly a bad MAF.

My camshaft position sensor went out on me on a 95* day as well....same symptoms.
It threw a code for it after it stalled the 1st two times.

More then likely it is a sensor. Prob your camshaft sensor. Your CEL should tell you.

Usually if fuel pump dies its dead prob wouldnt restart.
id go wit MAF for sure.
try unplugging MAF to see if it makes a difference if not process of elimination its your MAF
Read how to's on reset and self diagnostic, can read codes if you turn screw on ECU and count engine light blinks anyway its all in how to's

hmm well my car wasnt doing this but it was 99f here in ny yesterday so i had the AC on full blast and suddenly it started to make a whinning noise aroung 1100-1600rpms. so this kinda making me sad plus it has a idle problem , so heat + car problems+ high gas prices+ a naggin mom in the pass seat = very sad, angry, sweaty18 yr old who is starting to hate his i30.

clean Idle Air Control Valve & Throttle Body should help idle issues
A/C pump could be on verge of failing ??

lol my max has all the luxuries but the A/C but i have a feeling ill have to pop it back in there soon. Anyway. I took a second look at the intake, everything looked fine. However i knew theres was something else connected to the bottom of the pipe right before the TB, and i didn't see it there, i found it after a little bit of search it was some sort of a sensor pope'd it back it and car runs perfectly fine now. Thnx for the help guys once again a matter which would take ages to figure out and fix only took 5 minutes all due to you guys
