Vac hose cracked/dissconnected. problems?

I was out checking all my vac hoses, etc trying to troubleshoot my CEL ive had since my 00VI was put in awhile back since i live in AZ now and actually need to emissions test my car :/ Saw that this hose was cracked and had come off at some point.

What does it do and will it cause any problems im not aware of. Is i just a simple vac/pressure line? Its the line that runs from the rear manifold cover to the front manifold cover.

Here's a pic. I jacked mattys picture he posted on a 00VI thread. Thx Matt lol

*EDIT* I actually found this pic from my car. The hose cracked off where i have the 2 way fitting

All that hose does is connect the front & rear valve covers. This works with the one large hose from other end of the front VC to the intake piping. This evacuates the crankcase vapors from both sides of the engine, so to speak. Having this hose cracked could cause a vacuum leak since the air breather hose now has a direct link to the atmosphere.
