if you are cafeul you dont have to remove the sterring column sleeve. dont forget to pop your switches out from behind before trying to take off the black bezel.

I had a 97 before this 99...so I know both speedometers and how they turn on/work.

Here is my 97 with VLED 194 LED bulbs (inverted):

I like that color of your leds. Where did you get these from?

I would also like to know where to get them , I guess search on ebay. Do you guys know if 15 deg viewing angle for leds are sufficient enough to light the needles well?. Im thinking of picking up white 3mm 14000 mcd from cwithk from Ebay. He's going to send me free resistors with the leds but I want to make sure these will last and be bright enough. The first time I installed leds behind the needles I used 3mm 5000mcd and they weren't that bright at all. And 3 of them went out after a few months I wonder if its because I didn't use diodes that they burned out in a short period of time.

anyone know the bulb size for the turn signals in the gauges?
its for a 97 gauge cluster.

i don't think its #74 b/c i compared one and the bulb in the turn signals and the 74's are a bit smaller

I also have a 97 and what I did with mine was remove the socket and solder a led to the + and - copper conductors there. Worked like a charm. If you look closely at the how 2 you will notice he has leds solders in place of the turn signal bulbs.

One question here:

In my 96, if I put white smt LEDs behind the cluster, how blue will it be? Slightly blue? Or blue blue? Does anyone have any pics so I can compare?

comes loose it shouldn't as long as you soldered it in place well. Once I set mine they never moved. The one thing I did notice with it is that you have to make sure the led is pointed dead center in the opening or it would not be as bright. But that only requires simply moving the led with your fingers till its dead center then put the dash in place and check.

It most likely will be a slightish blue hue to the white. I don't know if you have ever seen the hyper white polarg bulbs behind the gauges. Very slight bluish white. But these Smt hard to say.. the intensity might be much higher and more whiteish. So its really hard to say.
