Why me, all the time?
Why me, all the time?
I'm a pretty anti-social guy for a 20-year-old...but I decided to support my friends that took the effort to throw a moderate halloween party. While they're all middle-20s guys, they had to get support from a DJ friend that invited a lot of 15-16 year old kids...
At the end of the party when a bunch of these kids left, I guess some of them got into a fight in the parking lot. My maxi was parked on the end of a row...
When I left, I noticed my drivers-side rearview mirror was bent forward. Only the next day did I see that there was a nice, huge dent in my rear passenger door (and one or two smaller dents). The paint isn't scratched - which makes me think someone got pushed into it, and then rolled along the side and knocked my window forward.
I hope the dent can be removed by a paintless dent removal service. It runs all the way basically from the top of the door down to the door molding, which includes the area of the "curve" of the door. What do you guys think, off the top of your head?
Also, the kids that got in the fight got assessed a few charges on the scene. There were a lot of kids watching this unfold...do you think I could work with the police on this, or am I screwed like normal?
It seems I can never own a car for more than 6 months without someone or something ****|ng it up. I practically bust my hide working ~30hrs a week (at a brain-pain network admin job, as one of two IT people, while full-time at school) these days just to repair those instances and nothing more.

Big dents not near creases are easy to get out, I wouldn't worry about that, but never host another party again. I learned my lesson all throughout college of how annoying and expensive it gets to be to have to talk to the cops three times a week because people are doing stupid things near your house/party.

seeing that i also have a 95 SE 5 spd, allow me to tell my tale and maybe help you out.
the first day of summer vacation, i duno, sometime in last june, i awake to my friend at my door, tellin me he's going to go beat this kid that keeps talkin smack, wants me to go also just so he doesnt get jumped. Thats how kids are nowadays, no one can fight for themselves. We show up at the kids house, me and one kid in my max, and him in his car. he calls up the kid, and despite what he said before, the kid is hiding in his house, wont come out. Finally agrees to meet us up at the nearby school. i even call the kid to let him know i dont know him, i just want him and my friend to duke it out one on one with no one else getting involved. over an hour goes by, we go back to his house, kid still wont come out, outta nowhere, kids come out from behind his house and bushes, about 13 of them, and three of us, obvoiusly it wasnt our fight, before we could take off, a kid managed to kick my car, at the next stoplight i looked and didnt see any damage. when i got back to my friends house, we found out there was a somewhat noticeable dent the diameter of a baseball in my drivers side door around the trim. i got rilly mad and wanted to go back, then i get called into work, later on i found out we are all meeting up again,a nd its one of those typical how many people u can bring fights, so i call up my psycho friends, (probation, boxers,) you know it.. we show up there, before myf riends car is even parked 5 kids are grabbin him, so we and the pyschos get out, about 5 of us and beat up about 8 kids, they run off, us not being satisfied, go back to his house later with bats and sledgehammers, and sicne they dented my car, i went at the drivers door with the sledgehammer completely destroying it,(it was a old old jimmy SUV, ugh) and all my friends smash the windows, find out later cops went to myf riends and fouond all the bats and stuff, so we were done, but when we went to police statoin, i told them damage that was done to my car as well and my friends car. to make a long story short, the 5 of us had to pay 850 each in restitution fines, plus 10 other charges, and the 3 of them had to pay about 900 each, and i got a friend of mine to quote my very hard to notice damage at 900 bucks, so i get 900 payed directly to me. all in all, i made a profit and now will have 900 to spend on mods becuz im not fixing the dents. i defended maximas worldwide, you dont f#$% with maximas and get away with it, the jimmy was deemed totalled..... goto the police, use witnesses, ull make lots of $$$ (im 17 and am a felon, small price to pay to teach people a lesson from the maxima family, yall better do the same)

I think I'm gonna take it to get it looked at. I guess I can get the kids names that got charges pressed for the fight that happened from my friends. I might try calling their parents to see what they'll have to say.
madmax - heh...nice story. You ended up with a felony for all that? Man...that kinda sucks. As far as Brig's comment goes, I don't think felonies go away with the 18th bday. If you think everything goes away at 18, it doesn't all the time...I got charged and tried as an adult when I was 17...granted, I had the option to take the case to juvenile court, but then my rents would have gotten up in the mix, so I just got a lawyer and took care of it myself (and its on my record).
The law is a weird thing though, you never know what actually happens until it happens sometimes. I've had actually more than one case where the judge, city prosecutor, and other governmental positions combined couldn't tell me what would happen to me/my record if the charge stuck. Nobody knew what would happen to me...in one of those cases, I went through with the charge and course of action as directed by a judge...in the end, the charge ended up not appearing at all on my record, which isn't what the judge told me would "probably happen". In another, I ended up getting the case dismissed...
In my 15-17 year old days, I did a little bit of acting up. I thought I'd paid it all back in karma by now, but the penalties must be three-fold. If so, I feel sorry for all my friends that are my age that still randomly vandalize peoples things, etc. Darned innocence of youth...I've learned my lesson by now, but some force keeps trying to teach it to me.

man...kids never change! hehehe...good luck on getting that car fixed...i think you can work with the cops on this one...if your vehicle was involved and you have proof (an eyewitness or something), then you'll be golden...

Something similar happened to me this weekend. Soemone stole my GTR logo and while doing that made some scratches. Also, there was some coke/pepsi spilled on my car!
This happened at a cultural show. I did not know anyone there, just someone who got jealous... It definitely ruined my weekend

(im 17 and am a felon, small price to pay to teach people a lesson from the maxima family, yall better do the same)
Sounds like you are proud to be a felon. Most states, 17 year olds are treated as adults. If your state does, that felony will follow you the rest of your life. "Convicted Felon" looks real good on your resume. Be sure to put it near the top in bold letters so the employer won't waste his/her time reading the rest of it. But like you said, it was a small price to pay to teach people a lesson.

At a private school, that is approx $2,000 and at a public school it would mean $600 dollars. Not bad
and congratulations!
Try to get some info on what exactly happened. Threaten some kids to get info out of them if anything
But if can get witnesses, I would bring it all to the cops and get an estimate on the damage.. let whoever was fighting doesn't matter who was the cause pay for it.. I would jump in and kick everyones *** for that. My friend almost beat up a UPS truck driver for sideswiping his car and 2 other cars parked in front of him, including his mothers..
The guy sideswiped them and parked the truck to make a delivery, my friend just happened to be coming out of his building at the time and heard a metal on metal noise and his alarm go off.. he charged the UPS guy and was like WTF man, you just hit my car! and the funny thing is, the ups dude denied it, he said it was there before. My friend almost kicked his *** and neighbors came out to calm him down and called the police. Dummy truck driver had green and red paint on his bumper (green camry & red Taurus) My friend got a nice check for 900$ and his mom got one for 600$. He never fixed it up though.

Wait...you're an NE?
Do you guys have a raised static-proff floor anywhere in your building?
If so, there's a suction-cup device that is used to get those tiles up to access the floor underneath.
Those things work AWESOME to remove non-creased/scratched dents. I used to have a Camaro and my sister dented the door while trying to close it with her hip. She's a big girl, and the dent was 1' by 2' wide....and about 3" deep....but not creased.
The next day I went to work (I'm an SE), and grabbed the suction cup thing out of the storage closet, went outside, and thunk!....dent gone.
Try it.
