brake lines

is anyone running SS brake lines without havin a BB kit installed. I tried to do some readin on the forum. ALL i could find is the SS lines with the kit. Most of the posts i read when they are replacing the lines without the kit just replaced with stock lines. NOW i know the benefits of the SS lines, but in all reality (financially speaking) would it be a really good route to do if you don't have the kit and don't plan on upgrading the brakes anytime soon, and if so which is perferabbly better DOT3 OR DOT4 to run with the lines or does it really matter since stock rotors and pads will still be on. Now don't treat me like a little sunday school boy who is about to have a private session with the pastor in the back room after he has taken a couple of sipped on the wine offering. (hay hay some you guys are just brutal!!) JUST tryin to get some input here guys!!
(I really hope non of you get offended!! )

also has anyone been able to get on the classified parts for sale/wanted page?
I have been tryin all morning (been up since 3am) and even after i hit refresh it still won't jump to the page it just stays put in the main forum page. Tryin to see how much I can get the SS lines for

thanks for the input in advance!

You should be able to find just the lines. You don't have to run BBK to run SS lines. In fact you might get some better pedal feel with the SS lines. I'd also just stick to good ol dot 3. I've heard of people having troubles when using dot4.

I have SS line with factory brake. I did not notice any benefit with SS line over the factory rubber. The biggest improvement in pedal feel is from indexing the rotor and changing the brake pad. Nissan pad is kind of mushy. I am using Raybestos QS, much better.

Stainless steel lines make no difference. you WONT stop better. you will only have a slightly stiffer pedal feel and with SS lines you have no indication of line failure. its either stiff or it fails. (unlike rubber lines that can give flex indicating weakness) Dot 3 or Dot 4 is fine. Dot 4 simply has a higher boiling point so unless you plan on doing to seriously hard braking that will cook your Dot 3 fluid, there is no benefit in using Dot 4.

thanks guys I know that the lines wouldn't really help in regards for stopping unless you have the BBK with it, but the pedal feel sounds much better (sister has been driving my car....FUTURE REFERENCE for you guys....if you have a sister DONT LET HER DRIVE YOUR CAR!!) right now i have the ceramic pads on and the dot3 dot4 hybrid blend.

still can't get on the classifieds section....think its my computer but than again when i click the thread the bottom left keeps on saying done.

Tryin to see if i can get a good price on ss lines.

I'm running SS brake lines with new calipers. The pedal feel is greatly improved.
It also seemed to have instant response in the few times i REALLY had to use my brakes.

I think having good (and inflated) tires with new (or stiffer) shocks makes more difference
in braking performance.

I got my SS brake lines from a Group Deal. I think they feel a little stiffer (I did them alone, without new calipers or brake pads), but it might just be a placebo effect. Looks neat though. I used Valvoline DOT 4.

I have the Goodrich SS lines and Axxis MM brake pads. Pedal feel is way stiff, stopping force is improved (but I have new rotors too). Look way cool!
