Lighter Rims?
Hi,
I think eventually I may be lookign into rims. Had a few vauge questions though. I know it is better to be precise but in this case I dont think it is as important. First Questions is - Any idea how much stock rims on a 98 SE weigh? On the forums I have seen people say 25 pounds but they were always guesses or "I heard's"
Seconds I was looking into maybe eventually - spring maybe - getting some 17's. I do not though want to weigh down the car any more than I have to though such as by going with heavier rims or what not. I just want something that will have a good look to it. I was curious if anyone knew of some lighter rims that are available for our cars? Also any idea how much they weigh for the ones you recomend? I know pricing goes up when they are lighter but also if you knew the price that would be cool too. DOnt really haev to because I can always look it up but curious. When looking at tirerack I did not see the weights listed.
Thanks
SuDZ

Well...
Light wheels are great in the fact that they shave weight. They are bad because the are not as strong as heavy wheels and can produce major wheelspin. I myself have Racing Hart CP-035s - which are supposed weight in at 13.5 lbs each (but when I weighed them they weighed 13.6 lbs.). They are "the lightest street-legal wheels" according to their add. You can see pics in my sig or on my homepage. Yes, the cost a pretty penny, but that's whay you have to pay for a brand like Racing Hart and an ultra-lightweight wheel. You might also want to check into Volk Racing - they have some ultra-light wheels there too.
