suspension and brakes recomendations on a budget

hey all,

ive done alot of research on brakes and suspension but would like to hear of others personal experiences.

i have a 98 gxe with 125,000 miles. i need new pads and rotors. i heard the oem brembo blanks and hawk pads r a nice setup. i really would like to upgrade the suspension given the car is ten years old. ive heard that the tokico illuminas and h&r springs are good setups.

i need some advice on cheaper setups because i need to have everything installed professionally since i dont have my tools/garage at school.

i want a nice and comfortable ride especially for long highway trips but with some city corner carving action.

im a college student on a budget but want to do this with the right parts.

thanks!!

for rotors, i would get Brembo blanks wit the hawks. Dats wut i have and its great. For suspension, get KYB Gr-2's and use back your stock springs if you dont want to drop. Thats what i would do.

Illuminas are the way to go. I say if you can hold out, try to save a bit more money so you can actually afford the Illumina setup (assuming you would like to go cheaper). You do not want to waste money on a setup that you do not like. There are many mixed opinons on the KYB struts, but there is a better agreement with the Illuminas. Don't cheap out on a critical aspect of your car. As the old saying goes, you get what you pay for.

I have the whole Illumina strut/Illumina spring setup and it's perfect. Great on road trips, and harder city driving. I can corner like hell. Stock compared to the Illuminas are night and day. Look around, you'll be able to find the setup for cheap. I got mine used with 15k on it for 300 bucks. It's the best investment I've ever made for my car. Good luck!

I agree with BlackonBlack98... except for the rotors. I'd go RTP blanks after owning both brembo and RTP.

They seem to wear better and you can get the zinc plating which has help up to a few years of OHIO winters just fine.

since you're on a budget! GR-2's and raybestos rotors (if needed!) and pads! Or hit Ebay you might find something special that's not Made In china !
