Intake and Boost sensor

I apologize if this is an old question...

My 97 SE's stock intake system splits, one path goes to the stock air filter box (which is now removed for my JWT) and the other path goes down (toward the ground) and into another box. I just noticed this last night as i was finishing the fuel filter replacement. I also noticed a "Boost Sensor" near the intake...what's this for?? I couldn't find this int he Haynes manual.

The part that goes down into the box is just a resonator. Some of us have attatched a pipe to that that extends down and out of the plastic heatshield at the bottom of the engine compartment. We call this OSCAI (Ooglie Stock Cold Air Intake). It has been doynoed and track tested to work just as well as some of the aftermarket intake systems. Search for more info and pics and stuff.

The "Boost Sensor" is actually a MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor that helps the ECU determine how much air is entering the engine.

I'll definately search for the OSCAI.

And thanks for the answer on the "boost" sensor. My previous car was a turbo DSM, so when i saw "boost sensor" i was wondering what that was all about... but i guess it's just a pressure sensor... cool, thanks.
