My auto is a 4th gen. I like it a lot, it feels quick enough for me and when I get down at it from a stop you always get a perfect launch. The auto 4th gens can pretty hard though. That would be my only complaint. Sometimes when it shifts it feels like you ran over something.

I'll stick to my A/Ts. Too many dam stop signs and speed bumps

I just came back from a race 358 miles round trip. I have a 7 gal fuel cell and a 5 gal container that I take with me. I made 13 "1/4" mile passes as well which aren't that great for mileage. Got home with a 1/4 tank of fuel and averaged 30 mpg not counting the gas left in the tank, I think thats pretty good for an auto. Quickest pass was a 12.6 @ 111 on 24.5" slicks, slowest pass was a 12.9 on street tires 2.0 60'. It idles along at 2000 rpm at 60 mph on cruise and averages 36 mpg at that speed.

Don't think I would ever trade my auto for manual. But, if I ever have a spare hand that needs something to do, there are other things to play with that give more pleasure than a shift lever.

I drink coffee while going down the 1/4 mile. Lets see a manual do that.
