Sounds to me like a main bearing - rod knocking. you're certain it's not the tensioner, the audio is not that great. how's your oil look? put that on the video if you can.

^^ it kinda sounds like a chain tensioner.

i just changed my oil not too long ago but i will do that later on today. (put a video with the oil) one quick question, with the tensioner, bearing or rod would it be a instant thing that can go wrong or would it have to progress over time? because i have been hearing this noise for quite some time, if i would put the car in Neutral and rev it to 3k, it would do it. but it would be as loud as it is now.

I think I mentioned TC tensioner before ... didn't I???? Oh, yea, I did! Have you done the tensioner? Maybe that'd be an easier job for a newby to start on that droppin in a whole other engine. Does it do it on start up? When it's cold? I can't believe that anyone would decide that the engine is shot without really checking it out. The TC tensioner is one of those "you're gonna have to replace eventually" parts anyhow ... so with that being said - I'd start there. Lot cheaper and MUCH easier than a whole swap.

so, are you going to change out the TC tensioner first, or just go ahead with this swap? I am just curious .....

+1 on possibly being the TC tensioner. The audio quality isn't the best, but to me from the speed at which it is knocking (the engine is at idle in the video right?) and the deepness of the knock, it does NOT sound like bottom end rod knock to me.

Then again, I could definitely be wrong, but it could be worth checking out the TC tensioner first.

ok, so when i changed my oil, all i saw was metal shavings... like a failed or failing tranny, and i recently just changed my oil and its already black, i changed it about 350mi ago... but thats beyond the fact, everything is running smooth with me taking out the motor, i am going to rent a engine hoist today, i disconected everything and all i need is to take the motor out, the new one is suppose to arrive today, hopefully i have it out before that time...... so i can just swap the parts over, change the tc tensioner, water pump, and all the exterior belts

not sure what the fuss is over... yeah you have to swap out an engine now...but im assuming you are capable.

in the end you're gonna come out even money-wise (sell the 00vi to get your $400 back) and you're gonna have an engine with half the mileage. its a no brainer. go for it and good luck!

I wish you luck mate .... Hope all goes well.

I think it was maybe a question as to weather it was actually needed in the first place. I still think you should have at least done a compression check. Just my .02 anyway. So ... what are you gonna do with the OEM engine?

I'm probably just going to take the IM off and junk everything else, I really dont have a use for it... Maybe I'll tear it apart and check to see what the problem was. but everything is going smooth i took the old motor out and im swapping over the accessories now...

hey man good luck with your install. Also are you running a FSTB? i was thinking with the 00VI or the de-k for that matter wouldnt allow the strut bar to fit.

Its funny how I just helped him with his 00vi swap and he swaps his whole motor by himself less than a month later lol. The swap looks good he just has a few things to finish up but its running.
