Rack & Pinion!!!

Greetings!
So looks like the rubber boot on my steering rack is GONE.... boot is completely torn and exposing. So has anyone dealt with this? what is the reccommended treatment? Slip Boot or new rack? No experience with steering racks

Save your money and change the rack. My boots kept ripping due to the fact that my rack was completely gone. Your going to end up spending your money over and over again if you just get a new slip boot.

I don't see how boots ripping and the rack being gone are related.......

Me either .... unless you had some part of the rack broken and protruding into the boot ??? Odd ....

Kevlo did a rack a while back, I think he may have done a write up on it, can't recall for sure. I know it's a beast of a job, but I agree, save your time and money and just install a new (or reman) rack and be done with it. Do your wheels stay pointing the direction of the turn, or do they return to center? If they don't return to center, it's past time to do the rack. I guess you could let it go ... but you'd have no power steering and that's a b!tch in a parking lot!
