Can i redo my own brakes?

I need new caliphers, pads, and Rotors. Is this something i could do myself with some guidance or is it something that should be professionally done? btw i have access to a fully stocked garage w/ lift.

if you got the space and tools its not hard at all. do it yourself

The only thing you dont have listed that youll need is someone to help you bleed the brakes when you are done.

Do it yourself and ue the money to buy Hawk pads instead of some cheaper brand. We can give you some pretty detailed instructions.

Brakes are a good gateway job to become more capable of doing more intensive DIY repairs down the road (pun). Most jobs are "easy" as long as you have a good tool selection and time. It's important to have someone to help you bleed your brakes. I don't suggest the golf club between the seat and brake pedal while you go run to turn the bleeder screw method.

I need to get new brakes, what do you guys recommend getting..I love the drilled and slotted ones, though I know their serious cash. What do most of you use?

1. they aren't that expensive.
2. they aren't worth squat
3. Good pads and Blank rotors are the best option for regular street driving.

drilled slotted rotors look cool

+1 on blanks. My drilled/slotted didn't crack for almost two years...but there are now visible cracks around the holes. Not to mention a Daily driver doesn't need the cooling or anything else from drilled/slotted. AND blanks have more surface area (IIRC about 12%!!) which means better braking!

Oh and get zinc coated ones to prevent premature rust.

I'd say DIY. Rotors and pads are not hard, especially with help from the org info. The only thing you might need help with is bleeding the brakes.

Also, I think there is a different bleeding procedure for ABS. Just a heads up if you have ABS, you may want to research that a bit.

I'm selling my used stock stuff, calipers, hardware, brakelines. You can rebuild the calipers, but they work just fine, they don't stick. Lemme know if you're interested.

There's a guy named Jason in the group deal forums, he has pads and rotors for really good prices. Check him out.

for performance, brembo blanks and hawk hps pads.

for low dust but still better than cheap pads, brembo blanks and akebono ceramic pads.

If I were you, I'd stick with stock calipers.

There are big brake kit options available, but they're expensive and not necessary for a daily driver. IMO a BBK in the front only would drastically alter brake bias and not result in shorter stopping distances anyway.

Invest your money in good pads and rotors. Maybe some SS lines if you want a more solid feel.
