No. They look like *** and you'll constantly be having people say to you.... "Hey, did you know your hood is open?"

ROFL

Is this a joke? If you're not doing it for looks (it looks gay, this is not a "to each his own" situation) then you have terrible taste. If you're doing it to help ventilate under the hood temps, I'd only have one question... Do you have some sort of basket ball sized turbo you need to keep cool? Regardless, there would most likely be no measureable difference in performance. People are actually paying $100+ for this crap! Yikes. I'm in the wrong business!

Hood spacers are basicly washers inbetween the hood and hinge. Lifting the back end of the hood up to vent the heat.

More technicaly, they are a handful of washers and bushings. I swear I'm about to quit my job, go to the hardware store and grab a fist full of those parts, throw them in a box and lablel them "hood spacers" and start selling em.

ive actually seen it done, and they used 1 inch square stock, drill holes, and slap it on (my friends eclipse) and it requred 1 washer (each side) ....... idk, i thought ide see if it really worked.

he also took the rubber seal out from the back of the engin bay.

for him, it seemed to make no difference.

Jime does this. He's the master. Ask him for a how-to and/or some pictures and his opinion.

I did it on my old B13 and plan on doing it again to my new B13. Longer bolts and some nuts do the trick. Its not that noticeable looks wise. As for heat loss, any bit helps.

If it's truly a drag car and not a DD, why not remove the headlight(s) or add a scoop/fab up something that provides a measurable difference? You stand to gain a lot of imrovement with the location of that turbo and a good vent setup.

If I saw someone's hood open in the back like that I'd get a crow bar, pry open the hood from the back side, and steal the engine.

I have seen a few civics doing it and i doubt there will be any noticeable gain from the tiny space you make. Better options are functional cowels/ram air hoods( which dont look right on a maxima, or a good heat wrap of the exhaust. Heatwarpping the exhaust will give noticeable gains if you are realy in need of coolling down your engine temp( hai). It will also assist the flow of your exhaust gasses but im not sure that will make a huge difference in hp. there is a small writeup of this on motorvate.ca

upon further research i find someone saying thats its not even really for heat, its for engine swaps and more clearance.

It was common on g35's and 350z when the larger intake spacer was used.

Its amazing this thread is getting more attention than most of the threads in here...

Anyhow, no. Its ugly, serves virtually no purpose, and costs money.
