Ok so you know the two big fans in the front of the radiator? How much cooling do those really provide? I've kept my hand in front of them before while the engine was running and it just blows hot air... am I missing something?

There is no way you put your hand in front of the rad. fan. If you did this, your hand would be between the fan and radiator.... Not sure how you'd be able to fit your hand in there???
In other words, where you are putting your hand, is the back of the fan. The circulating air carries the heat from the rad. fins away. It doesnt have to be cool air, as long as air is blowing by the fins, it's doing it's job. Like how you blow on a spoon full of hot soup. The air carries the surface heat away.

Wow, can't believe this is being asked. Seriously, you need the cooling fans...they provide quite a bit of cooling. Of course you'll feel hot air come out...they are pulling heat away from the radiator.

They don't cool the engine by blowing hot air on it, they cool the coolant that is in the radiator, which then cools the engine.

Nothing wrong with asking questions. All he needs is clarification. Damn.... I pitty the children/family/friends of people who can't answer a simple question without acting put out, or as if they never had to learn anything themselves.

Thanks for the answers guys. Yes, I meant I put my hands behind the fans haha... just seemed a little weird cause the fan, even if it is drawing that hot air away from the radiator, its blowing it at the engine right?

Sorry again for the "clueless" question... just seems recently everyone on these forums likes to jump on people for asking basic questions. We all had to start somewhere ha..

Don't let the razzing intimidate you. We all started somewhere. In your case...well umm...well....it is what it is. Just remember it's the internet, take everything with a grain of salt.
