Dropping the car with monroe struts

Short of two years ago i bought my car and it had blown struts. I think we just threw in some monroe struts from autozone.

If i were to drop my car using softer/shorter springs would my current strut setup work alright? And how would my performance be? I want it to perform good as well as look nice with a inch or so drop from the springs. Is the setup going to last?

I'm just trying to figure out what i want to do with my car, because if i have to replace perfectly good struts its not even worth dropping. Ill spend my couple of hundred dollars on something else!

the monroe struts will blow w/ any kind of drop. they are low quality replacements at best.

Monroe struts are the cheapest pieces of s**t made. If you are going to get lowering springs, pair them up with something decent. Your ride will suffer from the monroes. Then in a short period of time, you will be changing them out again!!!!! P.S. I have a front set of KYB GR-2 for sale. I'm open to suggestions on the price.

What springs are you getting that are softer and lower?

i had lowering springs with monroe struts on another 4th gen and the ride was decent. good for daily driving. i put around 20k miles on the setup than i sold the car. none of the struts were blown. do it if you have no money i guess. now i have tokico illuminas and wouldnt change them for anything except a real coilover.

Hmm... Well im not sure what kind of springs i would end up using at this rate. But it seems like the struts will end up being blown resulting from the springs? Well im getting mixed opinions haha.

If you aren't trying to replace your struts anytime soon, don't do it.

The only springs that have a chance with those struts are H&R's. They are the softest springs. Like others have said, the Monroe struts are for OE springs. So, it's not a guarentee that they would even work. I have H&R's with KYB GR2 struts/shocks and they are working great. But others have said that combo doesn't work. But it's working for me...

So, what could you do?
Get some springs and use those Monroe struts and hope they last a little while. The worse that could happen is you'd have to replace the struts when they do blow.
Or...you could just get other struts that are better suited for the springs you want.

Those are my suggestions.

if you bought the cheapest struts from AZ 2 years ago, they are already due for replacement. Monromatics (lower level monroes) are a 12k mile shock under stock usage.
